I doubt these people took color of skin into account.

Robert "Sheets" Byrd was once a member of the KKK. He filibustered the landmark 1964 Civil Rights Act – supported by a majority of those ‘mean-spirited’ Republicans – for more than 14 hours. Byrd is the only senator to vote against both black Supreme Court justice nominees — Thurgood Marshall and Clarence Thomas.

In 1947, he [Robert Byrd] criticized the military's proposed integration. In a letter to segregationist senator Theodore Bilbo (D, Miss.), Byrd said he would "never submit to fight beneath the banner [the American flag] with a Negro by my side. Rather I should die a thousand times, and see Old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again, than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds."

Nah - I doubt that "Sheets" even noticed the color of Condi's skin... ;-)

So are the other 12 members of the KKK as well?
