I quit after smoking for nearly 30 years. That was 3 years ago and it is the best thing I ever did.
Try Nicotrol inhalers (hits like a cigarette) and Zyban together.
My Mom died (after I quit smoking) of emphysema in her mid-60s after smoking all her life. She was too tired to quit but it was very sad and tragic

I am a smoking Freeper. My mom is presently in a fetal position suffering from Alzheimer's, and has a shunt to drain fluid from her brain. She never smoked.
I read that smoking seems to reduce the risk of Alzheimer', which is in part why I have not tried harder to quit.
Which way would be better to go? Emphysema or Alzheimer's? We think we can control our destiny by choices made, but I am not sure that we have all that much influence, really.

My mother died in 1996, age 76, of Congestive Heart Failure. She, My brother and I were all smokers. When my brother and sister and I were there to see her knowing she was about to die we spent most of our time out on the patio smoking and my mother would take off her oxygen to come out and join us.
This visit was in July. She passed away in August and in September I finally made the decision after 45 years of smoking to quit. I finally realized how it has such control over people that we couldn't even stay in the house with our mother. Instead she would come out to join us in smoking.
I did find that the NicobanCQ along with deep breaths helped me get through the bad spells. It is now 9yrs 4months.

I quit after smoking for nearly 30 years. That was 3 years ago and it is the best thing I ever did. Good job. I also smoked for 30 years and quit when I was 45. That was 5 years ago and yes, it's definitely one of the best things I ever did for myself.
