US book exposes secret US military presence in Israel
William Arkin: The US Army has at least five bases in Israel, including one at Ben Gurion Airport, and one in Herzliya Pituah.
Ran Dagoni, Washington 26 Jan 05 19:30
A new book published in the US, Code Names, by William M. Arkin, exposes information about a US military presence in Israel, including US Army bases at secret locations. It gives a long list of code names that describe milestones in strategic cooperation between Jerusalem and Washington. The books revelations about ongoing cooperation between the US Armed Forces and the Israel Defense Forces impart a new dimension to the saying by late Republican Senator Jesse Helms that Israel is Americas aircraft carrier in the Middle East, and that this fact alone justifies the military aid that the US grants Israel every year.
Arkin is an independent journalist and military commentator for NBC, and a former intelligence analyst for US ground forces. He calls himself a key to decoding slang and code names used by the US Armed Forces.
The book also sheds light on military ties between the US and most of the worlds countries, and on the organizational chart of federal defense agencies. A front-page story in The New York Times on one of the books scoops the operation of secret US Army commando units within the US, under a plan classified as top secret, has given the book broad publicity and a basis of legitimacy.
The book lists US military bases in Israel. According to the book, these bases are called sites, and numbered Site 51, Site 53, Site 54, Site 55, and Site 56. The form indicates that other unspecified sites exist, but this is not explicitly stated.

If it is true, and it is secret, then the punk who publicized it needs to be hung.

I don't see a listing for "Code Names" anywhere on that page.

It's amazing how we have to hide any and all involvement with Israel because Arabs and Muslims are so filled with Nazi-like hatred of Jews. How does this square with our principles as a nation? Very disturbing to this American.

" He calls himself a key to decoding slang and code names used by the US Armed Forces."
Whaaaa? Code names are generally computer generated, random names put together with no, zero, zilch association with any operation. Other than the usual high-profile operations (Desert Shield, Storm, etc), the minor ops are not associated. This loser is just that. . .a loser, not a key, and if he is a key he is awfully bent.

De-coding slang used by troops on the ground, and then publishing them in book form for our enemies to read, is bordering on treason, IMHO.
Suppose someone had published a translation book for Navaho, during WWII?
What do you think would have happened to that person?
