COPE [Spanish radio station] has learned that it has been confirmed that José Bono, [Spanish] Minister of Defense, is in Venezuela. Bono is thought to have arrived in Caracas around ten p.m. last night, Venezuelan time. Various sources consulted by this station claim that the ministers trip is in response to the express request made by Ambassador Raúl Morado to the Spanish Prime Minister, Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, for the signing of a contract with the Venezuelan government for the construction of military vessels [by Spain for the VZ navy]. The Prime Minister himself was going to sign the agreement during a stop on his trip to Latin America, but it was not possible because he is meeting with President Uribe of Colombia, which is involved in a territorial dispute with Venezuela. After Chavez controversial visit to Spain two months ago, the PP [Conservative opposition party] believes that the secret visit of Bono is unacceptable. The PPs spokesman for foreign affairs, Gonzalo de Arístegui, has assured his party that he will ask Bono to testify before the defense committee of Congress to explain the trip.
Ping to some Friends of Hugo. Not.
Well now that the Commies have taken over Spain for the second time, it only makes sense that they should deal with the Commies who took over Venezuela.
Maybe he went looking for better weather...

Great scoop! Very creepy! Zapatero says one thing and does another. I hope it's broadcast far and wide to all Spaniards that their pukey little prime minister is in bed with terrorist states. Be sure Barcepundit knows.
We need a coup or two and quick. Chavez and Zapatero are a nightmare combination. I suppose I can only pray for the total destablisation for the government of Zapaterorista.
"We need a coup or two and quick"
Yet another person who supports duly elected governments only when they fit within their own personal agenda.
Yet another que no puede comprender lo que esta cocinando en Venezuela.
If you know so much about Venezuela why don't you tell me why the citizens have not voted him out of office on multiple occasions. (If you claim electoral fraud please cite some evidence)
Also please explain why a Spanish coup at this point in history should be desired/implemented.
Oh please. Go play checkers with Jimmy Carter.
I tried arguing this once before but gave up.
All your facts will be communist propaganda and all theirs the gospel truth.
"I tried arguing this once before but gave up.

And vice versa, thats why the rule of law and elections take place in the first place. Those with the largest support amongst the public will create law. Those of you who call for coups every time someone wins you don't like are completely anti-american.
If you want him gone, organize in Venezuela and since you say you already have the support of the majority of the populace it shouldnt be hard to win. If he rigs the election organize like the Ukranians did and shut down the country until the proper winner is put in place.
Incroyable...
Democracy not coups are the backbone of this country and those who support coups as legitimate means of leadership only show their true anti-american beliefs.
Energy co-op between Venezuela, China - 12/26/2004
Visiting Venezuelan President Hugo Rafael Chavez Frias said in Beijing Friday that Venezuela and China will have a bright future for their energy cooperation as the two countries enjoy sound political relations and China's economy is developing rapidly.[/snip]
Buying crude from Venezuela tacks on a great shipping cost vs. purchasing it from Russia, the ME or east africa.
Zapaterrorista! Great name!
Yes, Zapatero and Kerry share the same fondness for left-wing terrorist states. As for destabliization, I think ZP is busy doing that himself. It would not surprise me, if he keeps on as he is doing, if there is some unrest in Spain in the not too distant future.
Yes, I'll pass it on. There are a couple of good papers in Spain that keep an eye on what ZP is doing (ABC, La Razón, and even the wild and unpredictable EL Mundo).
I hope you saw the very good comments on Chavez and oil from Shermy and marron yesterday. If not, ping me and I'll try to find the thread.
