Several liberal groups are trying to convince Hispanic women that killing their preborn children is good for thembut the message isn't taking hold.
Abortion is good for the Latino communitythat's the message liberal Hispanic groups are trying to get their people to accept, and a handful of pro-abortion organizations are "helping" them with that disputed message.
As many as 20 percent of abortions are performed on Hispanic womentwice the rate for Caucasian women. The National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health is teaming up with Catholics for a Free Choice and the National Abortion and Reproductive Rights Action League (NARAL) to investigate ways to increase those numbers.
One idea is for doing so is making fully available to Hispanic women so-called "emergency contraception"and ensuring that Medicaid coverage pays for it.
But their efforts aren't succeedingand one expert says the reason is terms such as "pro-choice" and "reproductive health" don't resonate with Latinos.
Ray Rojas, a spokesman for the National Right to Life Committee, said " 'pro-choice' in Spanish doesn't translate."
"You have to say 'pro-abortion,' and that's something that they don't want," he explained. "They know when the issue is abortion they lose each and every time."
Another reason is partial-birth abortion. Like most people, Latinos are horrified by the procedure.
"National Right to Life and many other pro-life, pro-family groups have done an amazing job of getting the word out as to what a partial birth abortion is," Rojas said, "and I think it made a huge difference and they're terrified of it."
The Latina Institute says it is going to have to frame their arguments to Hispanic women around a broader health care policy. But Cathy Cleaver Ruse of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops calls that strategy an attempt to mainstream abortion.
"Trying to kind of cloak abortion in general medical terms or a general medical and health approach is a long time effort and program by the abortion rights movement," Ruse said. "They have not been successful at doing that."
Abortion, however, is not health care, she said, nor does she believe Hispanics will be convinced of that, either.
Just carrying on the original ideals of Planned Parenthood.
Their racism is so blatant that no one can see it.
Somewhere, Margaret Sanger is smiling... And her master satan is throwing another cord of wood on the fire...
I can't stand that group.
I think I may be able to help you identify where she is if you really want to know.
'Promote abortion; but, certainly don't mention abstinance , self control or self esteem.'
Profit. Its all about profit. If NARAL, NOW, and PP could profit from promoting Abstinence, Self-Control or Self-Esteem, they would be doing it.
I suspect you already knew this...
You know, the recent story (and I don't remember the names, so don't go there) about the tragic death of the expectant mother and the child being cut from her womb is enlightening for this reason: The baby survived. This really sheds a whole new light on what partial birth is. Certainly this baby was born, are not babies delivered by C-section born, yet many months early (4 I believe, if memory serves). So at 5 months past conception, this baby was viable (with help).
Just a glob of tissue? Not hardly.
And I always thought the Latins were in Italy before the Roman Empire. I wonder when they moved to the southern Hemisphere and started a new culture and language.

But I thought the goal of the pro-choicers was to reduce the number of abortions, to have them be safe, legal and rare. I'm shocked, really. </sarcasm>
Thank you! Your sig is so true.

Another great way to rob the tax payers...
Bingo.
