Prayer vigil for the Iraqi elections
Vanity | JustaCowgirl

Posted on 01/26/2005 4:46:56 AM PST by JustaCowgirl

We invite and request your prayers every day this week for the Iraqi elections on Sunday. This is a pivotal event in World history, and a vitally important one for our country and administration as well. Please pray for the safety of all those, including our brave military, who are putting themselves at risk to make this election happen.

Pray for a huge turnout, and that Iraqi voters are kept safe from those who would intimidate and frighten in order to perpetuate their evil.

I feel absolutely certain that our President is praying about this event and for his brave soldiers daily. While he probably would not choose to call publicly for prayer, I feel that he would be overjoyed and strengthened to have Americans and people of faith all over the world join him in this.

Please pass this along to others that you know who would like to informally join us in this prayer vigil.

I'm in; been praying for this as well. You all might be interested in the site presidentialprayerteam.com

We prayed for our own election continuously on Nov. 1. Many people signed up for a specific time to pray and we had a "virtual vigil".

Thank you, I consider it my priviledge to gather together with you all in this effort. /m

Heavenly Father, we return with grateful hearts that You have knit this community of believers, that we might bring before the Throne of Grace the needs of a nation. So much of Your handiwork is unknown to us, O God ... we truly cannot grasp the enormity of the deeds done on behalf of people released from tyranny, but we know that You are Sovereign God, and to You be all Glory, now and forevermore.

May Your mercy continue to fall upon the Iraqi people as they prepare for their elections ... hold back the hand of the enemy who would disrupt ... hold back the plans of the enemy that would destroy ... hold back the fear that would intimidate the citizenry. Grant unto them boldness and fearlessness, that they would gladly go forth into freedom.

Merciful Father, work in the hearts and minds of the media, that they be faithful to the task of reporting truth ... silence the tongues of those within our beloved country who seek to tear down, rather than build up. We long to rejoice in their silence ... yet in the midst of din and clatter, may we be faithful to the task set before us ... seeking Your favor and protection for citizens, defenders, patriots. Boldly proclaim Your love, O God, for the least and the mightiest throughout the world. In the Name of Jesus, Amen ...

Thank you for joining us, madbull.

With regard to signups, I find that my personal preference is to provide a running thread for all those who wish to post and read prayers whenever they are able. Often there are people who don't want to post a written prayer, but find it uplifting and inspiring to read the prayers and pray along with others on a community thread such as this.

We invite you to post your prayers and to join us here, and will definitely visit the presidentialprayerteam site.

Amen and thank you for that wonderful prayer, Pegita.

Rus, the first thing I do when I get online each morning is look for your daily devotional. Thank you!

RC, it is certainly good to see you here and active again! You had several of us worried after the election...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lord, thank you for the wonderful young people who have given of themselves (and, sadly, sometimes, all of themselves) to ensure that the Iraqi people have the freedom our President promised to them.
Please place your cloak of protection over and around our troops as they, in turn, place their shield of protection around the people of Iraq. Bless all freedom-loving Iraqis -- and confound and defeat all those who wish then harm.
And, Dear Lord, please help all of us here on FR to be faithful in prayerful support of them, for we ask all this in the Name of our Savior...
I wouldn't call this a "vanity". What better and more powerful thing can we do in support of our beliefs than to pray? Thank you!
(Note to self: consider asking John Rob if it is possible to add a thread TOPIC called, "Prayers"...)
You're right, this is not a vanity, but because it wasn't a published article I labelled it as such. I think having a Prayers category is a good idea.
Thank you for your prayers, and we invite you to join us this week.
I pray to God that these people will have the courage to show that they want to be free to live like any other free people, not having to be afraid for their lives every day of their lives! Bless the efforts that are being put forth in their behalf both by their leaders, our President, and our military men and women who provide security so that these people may do their duty to their country. Father be with our troops and keep them safe from harm from a faceless, evil enemy. Be with the families of those service personnel who have died or been injured in this war against terrorism, and I ask that You give them comfort that only You can provide.
Thanks for the ping Jeff, and for the thread JustaCowgirl.
Those folks will be risking their lives to vote. We're so fortunate that bad weather and voter fraud are usually the worst we have to face.
I'm telling you now this thread is Spirit-led... I was going to start exactly the same thing today, and incorporated the new tagline yesterday for just such a purpose. Thank you for the heeding the call.
So disrupt the enemies of Iraqi freedom that they are confounded, dear Lord. Bless and surround those with the courage and hope to go to the polls with valiant angels.
Show the world not tragic loss of life but the visible rewards of sacrifice, let not one of our troops have fallen in vain. In Jesus' name.
Amen, meadsjn. Prayers for these voters who will brave danger to fight for their right to determine their future, and prayers for those who are helping them to realize that right.
Thanks, MinuteGal. We invite you to join us in prayer here every day through Sunday.
I must admit to some nerves here, too. This is indeed a momentous and important event, a true direct confrontation of the forces of freedom and liberty versus those of tyranny and oppression.
