CNN founder Ted Turner had another Fox fit yesterday, comparing the popularity of rival Fox News to Adolf Hitler's popular election to run Germany before World War II.In TV's best all-news soap opera, Fox promptly shot back that Turner is just bitter about "having lost his ratings, his network and now his mind - we wish him well."
The mercurial Turner - who once compared media magnate Rupert Murdoch to Hitler - told an audience of programming executives in Las Vegas that Murdoch's network has become a propaganda tool of the Bush administration.
"There's nothing wrong with that," he said. "It's certainly legal. But it does pose problems for our democracy. Particularly when the news is dumbed down, leaving voters without critical information on politics and world events and overloaded with fluff."
The Mouth of the South, who founded CNN in Atlanta in 1980, generated frequent loud applause and laughter during a one-hour Q&A with TV executives, according to Broadcasting & Cable magazine.
Turner, 66, told the standing-room-only crowd that Fox may be the largest cable news network - the right-leaning network has surpassed CNN in the ratings - but claimed it's not the best.
In 1996, Turner ended up apologizing to the Anti-Defamation League for his comments describing Murdoch, who owns the New York Post, as being "like the late Führer."
At that time, he said his choice of words was "unfortunate" and "offensive" and explained that he was referring "to the way Hitler managed the news in Germany."

Turner's mentally-ill. No other word for it.
I assume this Q and A with "TV executives" excluded Fox executives. So, are they all getting together and plotting against Fox? Are they coodinating their business strategy? If so, I think that may be illegal.
Turner has all that money and he's still as dumb as a box of rocks.
Yep!
That is a good line. ;-)
The kettle calling the blue sky black....
Ted pledged 1 billion $ to the UN and from what I have read when his stock holdings plunged he reneged on the pledge. Typical liberal, but this one with a very big mouth and empty head.
He's been eating too much of that buffalo meat....
I think not. In this case size matters.
Aw, how cute. The left accusing the right of what it does. IIRC, CNN admitted to being a propaganda tool for Saddam Hussein.
Note, Ted's 21st century style Hitler moustache, maybe he knows something?
How did you get all that money being as stupid as you are?
Fox is eating CNN's lunch..LOL
Fox News has also proven that slick production values don't matter. The message is far more important than superexpensive and flawless delivery.
Ol Ted is steeped in values that no longer any relevance.
RIP Ted.
</i>But it does pose problems for our democracy. Particularly when the news is dumbed down, leaving voters without critical information on politics and world events and overloaded with fluff.</i>
America is turning to Fox because the MSM is a danger to democracy. The MSM news is dumbed down, leaving voters without critical information on politics and world events and overloaded with fluff...like the stupid Oscars which was all over CNN tonight while Fox was focused on Iraq.
This Canadian is very happy that we can now get Fox in Canada.
Don't you just love old Ted.........What the H*LL has CNN been but the Clinton News Network for years and years. Earth to Ted -- Earth to Ted..
