The Babs and Klavern Show! (Senate Condi Debate Live Thread)
C-Span ^ | today | me

Posted on 01/25/2005 4:40:04 AM PST by section9

Yes folks, I know it's a couple of hours away, but for you loyal C-Span listeners, the debate will be carried live on C-Span 2 today. Live streaming on C-Span 2's server for those of you with high bandwidth carriers.

Box-o-Rox has asked for a full hour in which to call Dr. Rice a lying slut. Meantime, the senior Senator from the state of West Virginia has brought some friends of his down to testify to Rice's unfitness for her office:

Other Dhimmis have asked for time to object to Dr. Rice as well. Meantime, I wonder if McCain or Hagel will actually rise to her defense?

(...sound of crickets...)

Arlen Specter? Anybody?

Be Seeing You,

Chris

Chris just found the thread, could you give me a very short synopsis of what happened today? Thanks.

That sounds real similar to the one Kerry sent out last week about why he didn't vote to confirm Dr. Rice.

This was the most digusting display I've ever seen. The 'Rats must be in another dimention to not see the damage they are doing.

The elections in Iraq are days away, and here we have a US Senator claiming OBL is more reliable than POTUS!!

And it isn't over! There are closing statements from the moonbats tomorrow!

This is a National Disgrace!

DSCC fundraising letter from Boxer

Taking a Stand
January 25, 2005

The Republicans were expecting the Senate to confirm Dr. Rice with little debate and questioning from the Foreign Relations Committee.

They didn't count on me to ask the tough questions. What the Republicans don't realize is, no matter who is in charge in the White House, the role of Congress will always be to act as a check on the Executive branch of government. And when it comes to presidential nominees, the Senate must take its "advise and consent" role during the confirmation process seriously.

That's why I took a stand last week and voiced my concerns about Dr. Rice's misleading statements leading up to the war in Iraq and beyond. I will continue to make my voice heard on the Senate Foreign Relations committee, but in order to put the brakes on four more years of misdirection in Iraq and reckless policies at home, we need to elect more Democrats to the Senate during the 2006 midterm elections.

Click here to contribute to the DSCC today.

Because after Dr. Rice is confirmed, the Senate will face many more crucial decisions in the coming months: confirmation of President Bush's choice for Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, social security, Iraq and possibly a Supreme Court nomination. My Democratic colleagues and I will hold the Bush Administration accountable for its decisions. But we will need your help to hold them accountable in the ultimate public hearing: the next midterm elections in 2006.

The Republicans want us Democrats to step back and pave the way not only for this one nominee, but for their entire social, economic and international agenda. We have a chance during the midterm elections to make sure the Republicans don't have four years to do so. The DSCC is working every day to recruit the strongest candidates in every Senate race across the country. They are fighting early and fighting hard, but they need your ongoing support today.

Click here to contribute to the DSCC today.

So while I raise my voice on the Senate floor, I hope you will join us on the campaign trail and send the loudest message of all--one that the Republicans will not be able to ignore--unseating them in the midterm elections and sending more Democrats to the Senate.

Yours sincerely,

Senator Barbara Boxer

Lib gasbags dominated the floor most of the day, punctuated by Barbara Boxer's watered down EZREED Charts For The Little People. She made continuous charges that Rice was a liar, a reprobate, a homewrecker who slept with the President, and a lesbian who would rather date Hillary than Maureen Dowd, which really pissed her off. When one Republican Senator complemented her on her looks, comparing her favorably to Carrot Top, she ran screaming from the floor.

During his hour on the floor, Senator Byrd brought a cross wrapped in burlap and soaked in kerosene into the well of the Senate. The cross was raised, lit, then the Senator began to sing the old Klavern song, "The Old Klavern Song" for almost half an hour before he called Dr. Rice a "colored girl". Subscriptions were offered to "The Fiery Cross".

Teddy Kennedy offered rides to any young ladies who wanted to go "waterboarding" with him.

John Warner made one hell of a speech. John Cornyn did us proud. Sam Brownback closed the day out well.

And Mark Dayton? Dumb as freaking dirt.

Be Seeing You,

Chris

I am glad that was posted for you--I would have done it, but (embarrassment) I don't know how!!!

Someday I have going to have to learn how to do more things on this website. All I know how to do is post and read posts.

Dang, I have no clue what I was attempting to write in the last post. That last sentence makes no sense to ME and I wrote it.

I humbly ask all to forgive me!

Our pubbies did us proud today standing up for Dr. Rice. Now, for the icing on the cake, wouldn't it be grand if Cheney sat in the chair tomorrow for the final vote? Doubt it would happen, but that would be great. Cornyn really outed Boxer by entering her "pay me to trash Condi" letter today. Good for him.

Powerlineblog.com, fraterslibertas.com, captainsquarters and the rest of the Northern Alliance in Minnesota are primed for Dayton's next run. They know more about him than I do.

Jon Luak, Daschlevthune.com, now at southdakotapolitics.com was like a terrier with a rat on Daschle. Someone that focused and relentless would be great on Dayton.

You are spot on about clowns like Biden and Kerry. Their lack of leadership power in the Senate is consoling but their public performances are an embarrassment.

Thanks for the mail. b.

Thank you--that makes me feel much better!!!

Just turned on Scarborough and he is talking about Hillary.

You notice her there today? I didn't and if she doesn't give a speech, I will call her chicken. She just is in the "mugwump" mode of not wanting to take a stand in black or white!!!

"Inhofe will rip the Dems a new one. But there won't be anyone there to listen and the media won't report it. It will be like it never happened except for FR, bloggers and other junkies."

You are unfortunately so right. I just got home a little bit ago and caught the last part of Botox's (aka Possum Head)speech, then CSPAN 2 switched to Snowe & Liberman on Gov't waste (wonder if they included Babs, sKerry, the Swimmer, et al). I was really disappointed. I'm sooo thankful for you FReepers and your great commentary and play-by-play reporting of the circus today.

p.s. I was eating lunch while reading the posts on Babs and almost had to clean off my monitor and keyboard a couple of times - there were some GREAT lines!

Go to the sandbox here: (It's a place with instruction and you're free to practice on it....)

I ran part of it off and have it posted by computer for reference.

IMO Hillary didn't have to speak today. She had her minions do it for her....She has contributed largely to Evan Bayh....He owe her big time....He must be working to pay off his debt cause he sure isn't representing Indiana.

Thank you so much for the information--I have bookmarked for future "playing in the sandbox".

It only took me 6 months to actually turn on this laptop after my husband bought it for me---I always swore that I could get alone just fine without a computer.

Now I get really upset if I don't have a chance to peruse FR at least once a day!

Hopefully, some day, I may actually learn the stuff in the sandbox well enough to use on a thread. hahaha

chris, I forgot to mention that on DU there is excitement at the emergence of Dayton as a possible presidential candidate in '08.

This should be encouraged. b.
