State, Wayne, and Monroe officials were called to the Fermi II nuclear plant in Monroe early Monday evening to investigate what they would only call a "situation".

Authorities told Action News just after 6:00 that they were responding to some kind of situation within the plant.

Weird coincidence at Fermilab research facility reported by Chicago newspaper today. While the post is about the nuke it seems, it is strange that the similarly-named lab would have news today also. SCADA?

Nukes have so many redundant safety devices, it's incredible. I don't know if you can tour them anymore after 9/11, but every precaution is taken with about four redundant systems in case one fails.

Breakdown due to thermal cycling or vibration fatigue aren't uncommon in facilities that run 24/7 and pump large volumes of water (or any substance for that matter!)

There is an 'element' here that will instantly conclude, though, that any fatigue-induced failure just has to be terrorist-caused, never mind that we had lots of similar failures YEARS before any terrorists conceived of causing us harm (if the physical laws of nature have not been repealed, we can expect these kinds of glitches from time to time).
