Maureen Dowd: Don't know much about algebra (Or manners, or decency, or journalism...)
The New York Times ^ | 21 January 2005 | Maureen Dowd

Posted on 01/24/2005 6:06:14 AM PST by .cnI redruM

WASHINGTON Lawrence Summers, the president of Harvard University, has been pilloried for suggesting that women may be biologically unsuited to succeed at mathematics. He may have a point. Just look at Condoleezza Rice.

She's clearly a well-educated, intelligent woman, versed in Brahms and the Bolsheviks, who has just been rewarded for her loyalty with the most plum assignment in the second Bush cabinet. Yet her math skills are woefully inadequate.

She can't do simple equations. She doesn't even know that X times zero equals zero. If you multiply 1,370 dead soldiers times zero weapons of mass destruction, that equals zero achievement for Rice, who helped the president and vice president bamboozle America into war.

Thank you. As I've said before, the most frustrating thing about this administration is that it allows the Dems/Media to frame the debate.

I used to admire all three of her IQ points.

What is she insinuating about the president, his wife, and Condi in a "Texas triangle"?

I posted during the committee hearing, and now can't think which dem said it...Biden??--Howlin said she noticed it, too, but this questioner prefaced a "question" with some phrasing about Rice's "relationship" with the President and that she was being "rewarded" or some such. It's pretty plain we're in for four years of hints that something is going on there. It started back with that vile Trudeau strip where he had President Bush calling Rice "Brown Sugar".

that equals zero achievement

To the millions preparing to vote in Iraq next week, and the thousands of expats right here in America joyously anticipating their opportunity to participate, MoDo sez, "don't bother." No achievement. Nothing has been accomplished here. Please return to your homes. MoDo having set us straight, the Coalition will be leaving now. Someone will be along to kick your teeth in and/or toss you in a plastic shredder shortly.

Well, they're just poorer and probably darker skinned than most of the management over at The Old Grey Lady. Their lives, freedoms and expanded opportunity count for nothing to Maureen Dowd.

The libs haven't quite come out and said it, because there's no there there, but they are trying to insinuate that Rice got the NSC job on her back.

I actually expected them to try and pull this stunt last year during the campaign, but I guess Maureen is a little slow on the uptake. For these people, it is impossible to conceive of a single woman, especially a single black woman being a devout Christian and not a layabout or a lesbian. Ergo, she must be playing Ride the Pony with GW.

The whole fly in their ointment is that Bush is a standup guy as well, a solid Christian gentleman who honors both his wife and his friend Condi. Yes, Maureen, there can be an intimate friendship between Condi and the Bushes without sex or erotica. However, this kind of relationship is literally beyond the understanding of the post-modernist mind.

It is precisely because Condi has this relationship with both George and Laura (who actually considers Condi a friend and is not threatened by her) that she has become the most powerful individual in Washington after the President and Cheney.

Be Seeing You,

Chris

To be Bad is to be Good, to be a killer of men is to be better. I went through that phase about, I hate to say it, 40 years ago, June 9th when I joined the Army.

Women like bad men especially those with the smell of blood about them. Women are wired in ROM to love grunts.

I was looking at some PCs of me, that my sister sent me from 1967, 160 pounds of mean, lean, fighting machine, good times, she didn't have any pics of me when I was 130 ponds from my first tour.

I wouldn't trade any of my experiences, for anything, they taught me to be an adult, but I would like to be 22 again and just back from the wars.

Amazing the quality of the top dogs in the Democrat party:
1) Ted Kennedy: drunk driving, vehicular homicide, leaving the scene of a fatal accident.
2) Joe Biden: plagiarism
3) Bill Clinton: perjury, sexual harassment, rape, cocaine abuse
4) Hillary Clinton: illegal use of confidential FBI files, many others, too numberous to mention here
5) John F. Kerry: treason, submission of false cokmbat reports during the Viet Nam war I could go on and on.

By the way, one of the reasons MoDo dislikes W is for the handle he laid on her during the 2000 campaign: "the Cobra".

nopardons, now I find I can cop out with an excuse for my snow math problem from the other night, lol! I owe you an apology.

Hope you kept safe and warm through the blizzard. Looked pretty bad.

I don't think they mean that women can't do simple math;so you can't cop a plea.But I accept the apology,gladly.

The storm was pretty bad,but we lived through it without a hitch;thanks for asking. It's supposed to snow here, again,on Wednesday.
