DEMS GAVE CODE PINK DISRUPTERS TICKETS By Michelle Malkin · January 21, 2005 10:02 PM The San Francisco Chronicle reported today:
The most effective -- and disruptive -- protest may have come from the anti-war group Code Pink, which obtained 16 tickets to the inauguration from their members of Congress. Eight female activists, including Code Pink co-founder Medea Benjamin of San Francisco, obtained seats in the VIP section. They took their cue during Bush's speech -- when he spoke about the rights of people living under dictatorships to "free dissent" -- and unfurled banners reading "No War" and "Bush Mandate: Bring the Troops Home." Police confiscated the banners but did not remove the women.
A few moments later, the women stood up again, but this time they shouted, "Champagne is flying while soldiers are dying" and "Out of Iraq now." The pro- Bush crowd began chanting, and Bush momentarily paused. Police pulled the women off their chairs and escorted them out of area.
Two of the women were still being held late Thursday -- Benjamin and Diane Wilson of Texas -- but the others were released after the speech was over.
Wonder which members of Congress supplied the tickets? Jim Angle of FOX News reports that it was congressional Democrats from New York and California. Shame on them. If they wanted to disrupt the president's speech, the Democrats should have had the guts to do the dirty work themselves instead of hiding behind Code Pink's skirts.
Cowards.
About 2/3 of the way through the president's speech, the capitol police and secret service arrested about a dozen of these women activists who were in the VIP section. As they were being drug out, several of them wouldn't stop their chants. And although their little anti war cries were drowned out with chants of "four mour years" by me and my fellow Republicans, this completly disrupted the last 5 minutes of Bush's speech. These women were drug out and they litterally passed right in front of where I was standing. Needless to say I had a few 4 letter words for them. After it was all done, I started talking to the people around me and we kept asking the same questions. How did a bunch of low life, scum bucket protestors get seats in the cozy VIP section where there were seats while hundreds of thousands of hardcore Bush supporters had to stand on their feet for hours in the standing sections where it was packed like a can of sardines?
Well folks, here is our answer. These protestors were given VIP tickets by some Democrat Congressmen. Now I respect the first amendment of the Constitution. And I would never deny any citizen the right to protest, regardless of how violently I disagree with them. But the protestors were given a special designated area on the parade route where they could be heard, but not be disruptive to the festivities. But that's not good enough for the scum sucking maggots of the democratic party. They have to get in and try to ruin the inauguration ceremony of our president, a time honored tradition that goes back to the begining of our country and George Washington. And the only way they get it done is with the help of some Democrat Congressmen.
Whoever these Democrat Congressmen are, they should immediately lose their jobs and be thrown in jail along side the protestors. This kind of behavior is inexcusable. And as far as I'm concerned, these congressmen broke the law and should be prosecuted. They are not fit to represent anybody in congress. I don't blame the protestors as much as I blame the congressmen. Giving VIP tickets to protestors with the full intentions of disrupting the swearing in ceremony and the inaugural addressed. They need to be found and they need to be FIRED IMMEDIATELY!!!!
Not only the points in your reply #1, but what if someone hadn't checked the person out very well, they went through security and weren't checked very well because of their tickets, and they got that close to the President and could have caused harm?
You think that would have bothered the Democrats? Deep down inside, it's what they want.
Isn't this the same group who is supporting the the terrorist by funding them??????
First Amendment.
I love this country.
"You think that would have bothered the Democrats?"
Probably not, but it sure bothers ME. It's inexcusable, and I agree with Nascardude that they congresscritters should be prosecuted.
I agree; but the idea of 'Rats handing out tickets to Commie trash just isn't at all surprising.....
Even as this nation upholds free speech, that doesn't mean that everyone has character, civility or class. Or even manners. Unfortunately.
Personally I prefer to be annoyed by people who risk getting arrested due their public behavior rather than fearing for my life for emphatically stating a political opinion. In fact, their behavior is kind of amusing to me because we're on the right side.
After all, here at FR we emphatically state opinions of our own. And those opinions probably make some mischievous lurkers very, VERY angry.
But take heart, they lost. Four More Years!!!!!
Yes, they should be prosecuted... but unfortunately, the GOP is too spineless to even bring this up anywhere... :(
Is the code pink group pro-homo? Is that what the pink thing is all about?
Here's my take:
If you yourself are not willing to hold up the sign, stand up and boo, and otherwise make the disruption that is made by people you gave tickets to, then you are a coward.
It didn't totally ruin my experience. It just took away from it. I still had an awesome time at the inauguration and it's a day that I will remember forever. But it did cause me to miss the last 5 minutes of Bush's inaugural address. It just pisses me off. I asked my congressman, Frank Wolf (R), for an inauguration ticket. And I was one lucky enough to get one, as I had been told that he only had a limited number to give out and thousands of demands for it. So I was their to savior the whole moment and cherrish every second of it, which I did despite the fact that it was freezing cold, and I was on my feet for that entire time and it was packed shoulder to shoulder.
And yet some low life protestors who don't even desreve to be breathing the same air that President Bush breathes, got into the VIP section with cozy seats and then caused the disruption. And they did it all because some jerk ass of a California Congressman allowed it to happen.
