Biden Says He Is Leaning Against Gonzales Confirmation

WASHINGTON - Sen. Joseph Biden, a senior Democrat on the Judiciary Committee, said Sunday he was leaning against confirmation of Alberto Gonzales, President Bush's choice to be the next attorney general.

Bush's choice of his White House counsel to be the nation's top lawman, "may very well do us more harm internationally because of its relationship with the terror memos," the senator from Delaware said on the ABC News program "This Week."

"My inclination right now is to vote against him," Biden said. He is the third ranking Democrat on the panel.

Last week, the Senate Judiciary Committee postponed a vote on Gonzales' nomination after Democrats charged he had evaded their questions about Bush administration policies on the treatment of prisoners captured during U.S. operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. He has been criticized for his role in shaping those policies.

I just despise RINO idiots. They make us lose.

Geez, how clueless can you be.

No serious person thinks the AWB is going to be revived, yet it's being used as an excuse to refuse confirmation to Gonzales.

Wow, do you really not see that inattention to anti-RKBA positions like Gonzales's are how the AWB came to be passed in the first place?

Do you think Asa Hutchinson's massively arrogant stance that the people's opinion matters not in dealing with illegals should NOT have disqualified him?

Some people are RINOs. It is the job of good Republicans to insure they do not prosper.

Did Biden actually say this, or did he steal it from Neil Kinnock?

Soooo.. what are you saying? RINOs are a good thing? Let's nominate Linc Chaffee in 2008. Yeah, that'll work.

WTF is wrong with the people of Delaware - electing and returning this schmuck to the Senate term after term? He has no integrity and that was demonstrated beyond a reasonable doubt in 1988. When the "Kinnock speech" hit on 60 Minutes - CSPAN was doing a "Day on the campaign trail with ______" and they happened to cover Biden one day. After making a speech to a group of teachers in New Hampshire or Vermont the cameras followed him as he left the forum - and he was challenged by someone in the audience who disagreed with one of the positions he had just outlined. Biden showed what an arrogant schmuck he was in the way he reacted to this challenge. He claimed to have won certain honors in college and to have been on the law review at Syracuse - claims which were later determined to be falsehoods. But it was his manner in handling that exchange that defined the essence of Biden - the I'm better than you (by virtue of education, awards, etc). - therefore I win the argument manner The quintessence of arrogance. If he ever runs for President and gains any traction - that CSPAN tape comes out of the closet and blows him away. The part I don't understand - what is it that Biden offers to Delaware that causes them to look the other way on his arrogance and pretension?

Then the 'pubbies would have to eat the anti-2A charge. Until we make the parties own up to the actions not taken as well as the words spoken, why should they bother? The NReasonable-regulationAsses are in lock step with the GOP.

I am also against Gonzales. Please find someone else who doesn't want to renew the assault weapons ban...as he does.

Since gonzales is anti-2nd Amendment, I'd be against him too.

That's exactly why I'm against him. I hope he's not confirmed.

Without RINO-s, Republicans wouldn't have a majority in the Senate. But I guess you would prefer a Democrat majority, obviously.

We still need the RINOs?

And if we had someone with the guts to confront voter fraud we would have three more seats. Then Mr. Bowtie can come out of the closet.

Two concerns I have with Gonzales are :

Why was he let go from the USAF Academy before graduation ? Why does he make comments that he supports the reinstatment of the AWB ?

I'd like the answer to those two questions and I'd also like to know what his connection to LaRaza is.

" Biden has become a clownish figure "

Everytime I see Biden doing his schtick in front of the cameras, I am reminded of the Jim Carrey character," Fire Marshall Bill " on Living Color.
They have the same rictal grin.
However, Fire Marshall Bill's do, even with smoke rising from it, looks more natural than Biden's plugs.
Hopefully, the pictures still exist of Biden returning to the Senate, with his head wrapped like a swami, post hair plugs.
Biden's speech pattern is to hiss and over emphasize syllables.
He sounds like he is doing a poor imitation of Jesse Jackson on open mike night.
Biden sneered at Judge Gonzalez and said that he didn't like his " judge a ment."

So, exactly when did Alberto Gonzales say he opposes gun ownership?...You people have taken to flat-out lying about the man now.

Actually, it is lying (and in this case hypocrisy) when you deliberately misrepresent what others have said.

Where is the apology to cactuspete?

eno: And if you consider RKBA "agenda driven" what does that say about you?

Howlin: It says I can concentrate on more than one thing at a time AND that I can decide for myself what the most important priorities for this country are. That isn't near the top of the list.

The 2nd Amendment (Right to Keep and Bear Arms) IS near the top of the list. It comes right after the 1st Amendment (Freedom of Speech) in our Bill of Rights.

Buchanan and Tancredo could make a lot more money off their mailing list if they had a Democrat president to use to frighten xenophobes and racists.

So who are the "xenophobes and racists" that you have in mind? Or is this just a comment out of the blue just some way at you lashing out at real Americans?

According to your posting history, it seems that you are in the minority regarding the future of the US and immigration policy. Your position is one either of ignorance or malice. History has shown repeatedly that nations that lose their borders cease to be a unified nation. So either you are clueless about history, or you are one of those liberal deconstructionalists that hate the US and wish to see her language, borders and culture destroyed. So which is it?

Where did Gonzales say he opposes gun ownership in that article? He opposes assault weapons, which is not the same thing, as you know.

The 2nd Amendment (Right to Keep and Bear Arms) IS near the top of the list. It comes right after the 1st Amendment (Freedom of Speech) in our Bill of Rights.

What we need to fear is someone who is against our Bill of Rights acting as AG. Why? If the AG is personally against private ownership of firearms, how well do you think he will defend our 2nd Amendment before the Supremes if the occasion permits?

Consider that the Hate America Firsters (Demoncats and globalists) knew of their Trojan Horse AG's loathing of Americans actually having the ability to defend themselves against aggressors of any stripe. Don't you think that they would make a run against our 2nd knowing full well that the AG has no intention of forming a defense?
