I know that I had posted articles on the unveiling of the new military channel and anxiously awaited it's debut. It is hard to say how many stars I would rate it but they have some interesting shows lined up.

So, if you get a chance check to see if you get the channel (those in the greater KC area who use Time Warner, the channel is 224) if you do not then contact your cable/satallite business office requesting that they add it to your line up.

Only eight hours after the Pearl Harbor bombing, Japanese bombs leveled Manila and military targets on the main island of Luzon. After four long months for the under-prepared Allied forces in the Philippines, U.S. forces had no choice but to surrender.

And the story of their rescue...Ghost Soldiers...best book I've ever read. Hope I get this channel soon. Thanks for the heads up.

RLTW, I had heard 'Ghost Soldiers' was going to be made a movie, but I guess the opening scene was too unPC to show.

Anyone hear if the movie "ghost soldiers" is still being made or being released?

"Only eight hours. . ." Of course in those eight hours, Gen. McArthur dottled around and refused the advice of junior officers regarding dispersing aircraft at Clark Field.

The aircraft of the U.S. Army Air Corp were, unfortunately, under McArthur's direct command and were all in a neat row pursuant to McArthur's iron-fisted orders . . . that was until the Japs attacked and destroyed 90% of the air power in the Philippines in about 20 minutes. McArthur refused to allow aircraft to seek out and attack the Japanese fleet bearing down on him.

If there was any doubt about the outcome of the invasion, McArthur sealed the fate of many a GI that day by his delay.
