Maine went down the tubes after Ed Muskie was elected Governor in '55. Have they had a halfway decent Governor since Jim Longley 30 years ago ? Beautiful state, I've been there, but the politics make one cringe (let's not forget that ME was once the territory of Massachusetts).

It's supposed to be ours anyway. Remember "Fifty-Four Forty or Fight!"?

We elected President Polk to take our border to 54°40' but he wimped out.

Vancouver can go to Washington and then we trade the whole thing to Canada. Right now I'm on the phone to Manitoba, trying to arrange a deal for Illinois.

Keewatin Conservative ? I thought Nunavut and the territories are solid NDP areas. They make the Libs look sane and well-adjusted by comparison.

Any move that would make Quebec even less relevant is OK by me.

The hell with that! They've got more hard-core muslim terrorists than Seattle, Portland and SF.

F*** BC, Fu** Canada. Let them die because of muslim terrorists, not us.

I was just guessing. I figured anyplace that cold and unpopulated would be Conservative, plus it has a cool name. Maybe the District of Franklin would work better?

" and Nova Scotia to COME ON IN! "

Nova Scotia!!!???? Its a damn welfare state with damn near everyone on some form of relief. That, and the rest of the Maritimes are the last places we want.

On second thought, do the lean left or right ? If they are going to be another blue state, forget it.

Dang! How many "closet-americans" are there in Canada?

Well, if annexation at least we won't have to worry about mass waves of immigrants rushing accross the border...

I know quite a few in southern Alberta that are very pro-America and wish that Alberta was a State.

If it will do any good, throw in Maine, NH, Vermont, Massachusetts, RI, and Connecticut.

Most of those places are inhabited by the native tribes, and sadly, they send those NDP kooks to their respective capitals and to Ottawa. :-(

I do think it depends on the area of Canada you are in. Alot of the Albertan's I knew depended on farming or natural resource production for their incomes.
Alot of Albertan firms have expanded south of the border into Montana and probably other states. They seem to have the capital from their rich resources in Alberta to provide the equipment necessary to make a profit in Montana.
