The President, First Lady and their parents relaxed at the White House today. Former President GHW Bush visited the press corps on duty in the WH press briefing room.
QUOTE OF THE DAY: This week, Washington has been marked by pomp and circumstance. In a free nation, these ceremonies are more than pageantry. They underscore that public office is a public trust. America's elected leaders derive their authority from the consent of the American people, whom we serve. This is a high privilege, and that privilege carries a serious responsibility: to confront problems now, instead of passing them on to future generations.
As long as I hold this office, I promise that I will serve all Americans and will work to promote the unity of our great nation. And working together, we will secure the blessings of liberty, not only for ourselves, but for generations of Americans to come.
President George W. Bush, Presidential Radio Address, Jan. 22, 2005.

Thank you both for the additional photos. Soon enough we'll turn back to the Administration's business, but for now it's great just to bask in the glow of a memorable inauguration.

C-in-C has to salute M.O.H. recipients. I'd love to see that.

Yes I did find that photo of Dick Cheney and the boots late on 19th or early 20th I think but don't worry about repeating it as it was put on very near the end and I suspect a lot of the dosers will not have seen it.

Banana Republic??? No security?? If the leftist morons could behave in a civilize manner then maybe so much security would not be needed. They got to really out there in left field if they think the secret service is not going to do everything to protect the President.

The left seem to have no conscious especially where the VP is concerned that is why I have been pleasantly surprised that there has not been any flack about Mary holding the bible or have I missed it?

Hi, Kath. I was just getting ready to shut down my PC. Am late for an appointment. But I wanted to respond to your posts, especially the one about the Secret Service. I'm glad someone else other than myself noted it. The comments from that TV talking head are monumentally stupid, aren't they. "The Secret Service is going to have to rehthink..." What gall.
Man, I can't stomach the media much anymore. They act like they know everything about everything, when all they really are is a bunch of voyeurs sitting on the sidelines of other people's lives.

Note that you can scroll through the entire Yahoo sideshow, at the link I provided. That photo just happened to be the first one in the show. You can also click for slightly larger versions.
What I found interesting, is that with something as important as the Inauguration, Yahoo couldn't muster the courage to provide a slide show dedicated to the topic. That reflects rather poorly if you ask me.
All I found were political slide shows titled, Democrat or Republican. Perhaps someone else will find something I didn't, but I sure didn't find a dedicated slide show for the Inauguration.
