VIENNA, Austria (AP) -- California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger should be stripped of citizenship in his native Austria for approving the execution of a convicted killer, a leading Austrian politician said Saturday.
The demand, by a top official from the environmentalist Green Party, had little chance for success, but it underscores how Schwarzenegger has lost popularity in his homeland over his support for the death penalty. Most Austrians - and many other Europeans - abhor capital punishment as cruel and inhumane.
Peter Pilz said Schwarzenegger broke the law in Austria - where capital punishment is illegal - and is no longer worthy of citizenship because he allowed the execution of Donald Beardslee's execution to go ahead last week.
"Schwarzenegger is possibly the most prominent Austrian abroad, and he shapes the picture of Austria," Pilz said. "I don't want that picture shaped by someone who commits state murder. That does not correspond to the political culture of this country."

most euros are girlymen.
I suspect Gov Schwarzenegger is heartbroken.....heh heh heh
"Pilz said Schwarzenegger broke the law in Austria..."
...by upholding the law in California? When did Austria annex the US? Chill Pilz.
A jealous cry-baby. Arnie makes it BIG when he gets out of Austria and Europe -- and the socialist Euro-Whiners cannot stand it.
Bill
I doubt Schwarzenegger would care. He's an American now.
Wow! I've never seen "Green Party" and "success" in the same sentence. Threw me for a second there.
Now Arnold really is the Terminator!
When does culture start?. This clown is crying about a culture where the death penalty is a part of their culture, according to Google the last death sentence was carried out in Austria in 1950. Really no long for a culture is it? Adolph Hitler one of histories biggest proponents of the death penalty for being Jewish was born in Austria. This guy may not approve of the death penalty but to say being against it is a part of Austrian culture is a bit of a stretch.
You've already done that once Mr. Pilz. When Schwarzenegger got enough money and fame he "recovered" his Austrian citizenship. If you're looking for help in California to stop his official actions here in the US you've got it but the deal is you have to take HIM back. We'll gladly send him.
He should fit quite nicely into your Euro-Socialiam system. He can bring midnight basketball to a town in the Alps and can open up your country to workers from Mexico which are much safer than the middle eastern Muslims you now employ. There's are bonus in this deal if you'll take it. You can tax Schwarzenegger on the millions he's making on his real estate ventures in California and you'll get occasional visits from Ted Kennedy and the clan.
It's a win win deal for all of us. We get rid of a big spending social liberal and you get one of the world's most prominent Eurowienies who's had success on two continents.

most Europeans have rejected Scripture-- "Thou shalt not suffer a murderer to live."--But let none of you suffer as a murderer,or as a thief,or as an evildoer,or as a busybody in other mens matters."--"whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: an dye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him." Sadly too many Americans have likewise rejected the Rule of Law. That rests upon the fact that
by blood is the land defiled -and only by blood can it be
redeemed. Becaus ewe are reprobate we cannot seek Gods'
blessings.
California is landlocked?
Ahhh -- I wish we could edit our comments
Clearly bass ackwards.
