The parallels between WWII and the War on Terror are uncanny

I've noticed that as well. Lots of naysayers didn't want us to get involved in that one either, Joe Kennedy Sr. was one of the most notable.

I sometimes wonder what the European countries are thinking. And I sometimes think we shouldn't care. But that is not what our country is about. We have been in the past, and always will be, the country looking out for those who don't have the sense to look out for themselves.

In some ways it's fortunate that we have WWII as a lesson because it makes it very clear what the risks are for inaction in the face of crazies. We can either stand up to them, or we can let them succeed, which is unthinkable.

Sometimes I wonder what the world would be like now if the Nazis had won. Not a pleasant place to live. And yet the price to defeat them was terrible - 70 million people died in WWII.

Bad as the Nazis were, I almost think the terrorists are worse. At least the Nazis weren't trying to shove their perverted religion down our throat. Both make me shudder.
