OSLO, Norway — President Bush's "Hook 'em, 'horns" salute got lost in translation in Norway, where shocked people interpreted his hand gesture during his inauguration as a salute to Satan.
That's what it means in the Nordic countries when you throw up the right hand with the index and pinky fingers raised, a gesture popular among heavy metal groups and their fans in the region.

I'm sure it didn't take much for the Norskies to misunderstand. They think America is the most evil place on earth. I get so tired of America being slammed by liberals!
It's pretty funny --- but imagine if some pro-soccer sign with the middle finger? It would look weird to us. I know someone who learned the hard way that hand gestures are cultural --- when she made the okay symbol --- when asked how she liked the meal the family served her in Brazil. Apparently that's like the middle finger to us.
