The Prayer Serviceis starting now
"You have heard it said that you should love your neighbor and hate your enemy, but I say love those who persecute you."
A very telling scripture choice from President Bush and Mrs. Bush.
Mat 5:43-48
(43) You have heard that it was said, "You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy."
(44) But I say to you, Love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who despitefully use you and persecute you,
(45) so that you may become sons of your Father in Heaven. For He makes His sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.
(46) For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax-collectors do the same?
(47) And if you greet your brothers only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the tax-collectors do so?
(48) Therefore be perfect, even as your Father in Heaven is perfect.
Notice how all the sung hymns/canticles are so lovely and traditional...composed when we addressed God the Father as "Thou"..."How Great Thou Art" ... "Joyful Joyful we adore Thee..."...I think Christian worship has gone downhill since we stopped addressing God as Thou (this only began in the 1960s). The music here is far more inspiring than the spoken prayers (in contemporary language).
This verse sums up what others cannot understand. G.W.'s kindness to his 'enemies' reflects Christian thought. He's accountable to a higher critic than those that seek partisan retort.
Isn't to say I don't, or even he, succomb to that temptation. This is simply the goal of perfection he seeks to aspire to.
Welsh tune.
I agree. This minister is sort of jarring in his speaking style...but I imagine this is someone they know and like.
Rev. Mark Craig from Dallas.
Mark Craig from Dallas is the pastor
Beautiful service. Where is Kirbyjon Caldwell??
Gee...I wonder where the negative nannies of FR are today? I wish I could remember the one who stated on some other thread a few days ago that he just knew Rev. Graham wouldn't pray in the name of Jesus. Ha! As if BG cares more what man thinks of him that what Christ thinks of him......
This is a good sermon. I didn't like his speaking style at first. But it is plain and easy to understand.
Kind of like Our president? ;-)
oh wow....he is good!
Yep.
Amen! Thank you Pastor! We are Red, White and Blue!
This is not the sermon that the left would like, but it speaks from the heart about this nation and our relationship with God.
Amazing grace, how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me.
How amazing, what I found to be impossible to do ( to earn a place in the presence of God), Jesus made possible through his sacrifice upon the cross.
Pastor now extolling American character, and how Americans rise to a challenge.
