President Bush was inaugurated for his second term as President of the United States. Nuff said. Enjoy your special inauguration day edition of the daily dose!
It isn't the first time Noonan has sharply criticised GWB. To be fair, she certainly is welcome to do so if she has a genuine critique. However, my point is that she's not genuine. She'll say favorable things about the president on Fox News, for example, the turn around and say highly negative things about the exact same subject if she's on MSNBC.
I also think she's a lousy writer. Way overrated, in my opinion.
I read it and answered. She seems to be full of herself. Wonder if these channels let their feelings known as to how they want opinions slanted. O'Reilly says Roger Ailes never has interfered.
I think the closeness of their parents after many years has a great bearing on who they married and the resultant happiness.
Laura looked distressed well into the service; not like herself. She later brightened. We will never know how they can smile and be cheerful when terrible things and news are happening of which we have no knowledge.
I'll get you some pics...I'm still processing the event, it was TOO cool!!
The prez looked so compassionate and concerned, you can tell he cares about our soldiers as if they were his own kids...
Good evening my dear looking forward to the pics
I'll get them to you ASAP.
Pray we don't get snowed in tomorrow :-)
Guffy took more photos of Cheney than she did of GWB you'll be happy to hear. He and Lynne were very flirty and I was impressed with their dancing skills. He spun her very nicely and they kept giggling with each other. It was nice to see!
He did seem to be enjoying himself all day smiling all the time.
Did anyone else notice - I know justacowgirl did but when he went to take his seat just before the swearing in he winked at someone.
Had an awesome thing happen to me today dad and me went by train to London (well just outside) and I had the tickets plus dad's disablement concession card in a little plastic wallet. I showed tickets at the barrier when we reached Bromley and had wallet in my hand when we got in the taxi. I thought I then put the wallet in the pocket of my back pack but when we arrived back at the station after dad's hospital appointment the wallet was not in my bag.
I was in panic mode then not only would I have to pay full fare back to Ashford for dad and me probably about 30.00 pounds in total but his concession card was missing and that is a nightmare to get a duplicate. As we walked towards the station door a taxi driver came rushing up to us and asked if were the people he took to the hospital earlier as he had found the wallet in his taxi. We were overwhelmed he had bothered to keep an eye on the station door for the last couple of hours for us to return it certainly put our faith back in humanity. I gave him a big kiss and dad gave him 5.00 pounds - it was incredible God was certainly watching over us today.
Wonderful, heartwarming story!
GOOD FOR YOU!
Isn't is amazing how things work out sometimes?
So glad it worked out for you, you deserve it :-)
Always nice to hear there are people such as that who we run into in our every day lives.
I didn't notice the wink, I had such a migraine that I had my eyes closed from Weds. afternoon until Thurs. evening...what timing!
I was glad I was able to get to the ball.
Actually, when Dick and Lynne were supposed to come in to the ball, the announcer's mic broke down! So they just showed up without annoucement and everyone went wild!!
I noticed that as well; interesting, because GWB has winked at someone, publically, more than once. One I recall very clearly; it was in a debate with Gore in 2000. He winked at someone in the audience(a female).
Cyber, I agree, Ceci is sooooooo obnoxious. That smirk on her face drives me nuts....
I was very disappointed with Fox's coverage of all the events. They didn't cover a lot of the parade and had double screen shots of the balls. I hate to admit it but CNN, MSNBC and C-Span actually had better coverage. I watched MSNBC and C-Span most of the day......but, like you, I flipped back and forth to Fox. But, nothing could spoil the WONDERFUL day! Our dear President looked sooo relaxed, it was great to see him smile easily and move with the music of the parade bands. God has truly blessed us with this wonderful man and our beautiful, classy First Lady.
Thank you for starting this Daily Dose four years ago and for it still going strong - thanks to you and the frequent posters of the "Dose". Words cannot express the gratitude I have for this daily dose of sanity in an ocean of seeming madness some days.
Wolfstar, I, too, heard Peggy Noonan praising the President's speech when she was with Brit and company. I was shocked to hear about her column today criticizing the speech as to "heavenish". Wow...guess, Peggy gets added to the 'phony, no guts' list. That's why I love Fox's John Gibson; he says what he thinks and he's not afraid to show his patriotism and love for America.
too much partying, Jenna
ROFL.....
While First Lady, Jackie always impressed me an ice queen, like she had the idea that she was better than everyone else. Laura never gives that impression; I've never seen her anything but gracious and open to everyone. To me, that makes Laura MUCH more lovely than Jackie, Jackie's French haute couture notwithstanding.
