Posted on 01/20/2005 3:22:49 PM PST by fishtank

Would at least one Christian minister who has the President's ear ---- give him an earful????

Why hasn't Mr. Rant picked up on the New Jersey Massacre story? I keep waiting for him to mention it...

And he has not followed up lately on the Hmong hunting massacre either.

AND I AM GETTING SICK OF HIS BUSH-BASHING. I agree with him, Bush needs to be opposed on immigration - but Savage is ridiculous.

How, exactly, does suggesting (falsely or naively) that they are on the same moral level as Judaism or Christianity change anythng that you listed about the culture in which 98% of them live?

I'm not trying to dodge your question, or be a smart aleck, but I don't get what you are trying to ask me. Can you rephrase that a little? It seems as though you are making some assumptions about what I said, and your question itself is not coming through to me very well. Thanks.

and as I said, being exposed to evil ideas will not harm one who walks with God. My faith is not threatened no matter how much of the Koran I should hear, nor how many of their prayers I hear them wailing. Those who are so influenced seem to me to be rather weak in their conviction in their beliefs.

I am not a Nazi, but I have read and feel I benefitted from Mein Kampf. I am not a Communist, but have also read and benefitted from the Communist Manifesto. Same goes for the Satanic Bible. IF a book IS evil, then it is all the more reason to read and understand what it is saying. One can never fully understand ones own position unless one has heard the opposing beliefs. The very fact that you are able to make a judgement upon the Koran would indicate you yourself had read it... and how would that knowledge be imparted to you if the book had not been available?

BTW.. and this is just a personal thought. It seems to me that all religions can be divided into two basic catagories. Those which are based in self-interest.. and those based in self-sacrifice. Christs death upon the cross is the definitive example of the philosophies of self-sacrifice. Those based on the opposite would then be serving whom?

Radicalism, no matter what the breed, seems to me to be the biggest evil of all.

Ah, those wonderful all-American words of the Koran:

Slay them wherever you find them...Idolatry is worse than carnage...Fight against them until idolatry is no more and God's religion reigns supreme." (Surah 2:190-)

"Fighting is obligatory for you, much as you dislike it." (Surah 2:216)

"The only true faith in God's sight is Islam." (Surah 3:19)

"Believers, do not make friends with any but your own people...They desire nothing but your ruin....You believe in the entire Book...When they meet you they say: 'We, too, are believers.' But when alone, they bite their finger-tips with rage." (Surah 3:118, 119)

"If you should die or be slain in the cause of God, His forgiveness and His mercy would surely be better than all the riches..." (Surah 3:156-)

"To those that declare: 'God has commanded us to believe no apostle unless he brings down fire to consume an offering,' say: 'Other apostles before me [Muhammad] have come to you with veritable signs and worked the miracle you asked for...If they reject you [Muhammad], other apostles have been rejected before you..." (Surah 3:183-)

"Forbidden to you are...married women, except those you own as slaves." (Surah 4:20-, 24-)

"Seek out your enemies relentlessly." (Surah 4:103-)

"The Jews and Christians say: 'We are the children of God and His loved ones.' Say: 'Why then does He punish you for your sins?" (Surah 5:18)

"Believers, take neither Jews nor Christians for your friends." (Surah 5:51)

" "Believers, when you encounter the infidels on the march, do not turn your backs to them in flight. If anyone on that day turns his back to them, except it be for tactical reasons...he shall incur the wrath of God and Hell shall be his home..." (Surah 8:12-)

"Make war on them until idolatry shall cease and God's religion shall reign supreme." (Surah 8:36-)

"If you fear treachery from any of your allies, you may fairly retaliate by breaking off your treaty with them." (Surah 8:51-)

"...make war on the leaders of unbelief...Make war on them: God will chastise them at your hands and humble them. He will grant you victory over them..." (Surah 9:12-)

"It ill becomes the idolaters [non-Muslims] to visit the mosques of God..." (Surah 9:17)

"Fight against such as those to whom the Scriptures were given [Jews and Christians]...until they pay tribute out of hand and are utterly subdued." (Surah 9:27-)

"It is He who has sent forth His apostle with guidance and the true Faith [Islam] to make it triumphant over all religions, however much the idolaters [non-Muslims] may dislike it." (Surah 9:31-)

"If you do not fight, He will punish you sternly, and replace you by other men." (Surah 9:37-)

"Prophet make war on the unbelievers and the hypocrites and deal rigorously with them. Hell shall be their home." (Surah 9:73)

"Believers, make war on the infidels who dwell around you. Deal firmly with them." (Surah 9:121-)

"Muhammad is God's apostle. Those who follow him are ruthless to the unbelievers but merciful to one another." (Surah 48:29)

"Shall the reward of goodness be anything but good?...Dark-eyed virgins sheltered in their tents...They shall recline on green cushions and fine carpets...Blessed be the name of your Lord..." (Surah 55:52-66-)

Yet he did not mention Buddhism or Hinduism which have considerable constituencies. Why not ? Because they are relatively peaceful

Really?

Militant Buddhists are attacking Christian churches and threatening the freedom of religion in South Asia.

Christians, too, target of Hindu fascism

He mentioned the koran because he wants to provide a tolerant moderate position for Muslims instead of the jihad option that is at war with us.

Michael Savage has no clue about what you just said.

Name one thing the Koran or any muslim has contributed to this country.

I'll bite as well, and raise it to two:

My physician is Muslim. (Whether my continued health is a "contribution" to this country is, of course, debateable amongst my opponents here...)

Ah, those wonderful all-American words of the Koran:

"Whosoever killed a person - unless it be for killing a person or for creating disorder in the land - it shall be as if he killed all mankind; and whoso saved a life, it shall be as if he had saved the life of all mankind." (5:32)

Michael Savage has no clue about what you just said.

That does not surprise me. Sometimes he misses the points of his callers too.

President Bush has to sell Islam as a noble religion with a future to win over the hearts and minds of millions of Muslims in the War on Terror. He must sell the concept that Islam is a religion of peace because otherwise we must kill millions of Muslims in a total war not of our choosing. President Bush is trying to save lives.

What part of "Borders, Language, and Culture" would you consider fodder for liberals? Or is it just the man?

Yes, really. They really are relatively peaceful religions and are not historically associated with conquest.

Islam, OTOH, was born in the blood of conquest and is a mortal threat to the modern world.

Have you said the shehadeh yet ?

If so, how old were you ?

Michael likes liberals. He doesn't like President Bush. I really think the problem with Savage is he thinks he is supposed to be on Bush's staff and is not.

What were those silly Founders thinking, anyway?

My opinion, with respect to emigration, is, that except of useful Mechanics and some particular descriptions of men or professions, there is no need of encouragement: while the policy or advantage of its taking place in a body (I mean the settling of them in a body) may be much questioned; for, by so doing they retain the Language, habits and principles (good or bad) which they bring with them. Whereas by an intermixture with our people, they, or their descendants, get assimilated to our customs, measures and laws: in a word, soon become one people. [G. Washington to the Vice President, 1794]

Let me guess..."distinct American culture" is simply whatever is your perception of how America should be.

I have my 2 cents, yes--and you should have yours too. There are superior characterstics to cultures, and we should strive to implement those into our own. But no matter what actually gets put into effect within the confines of a clean conscience and necessarily our Constitution, we would do best as a nation if we and those we invite here understand and aspire to the standards of that culture. That's the concept of cultural assimilation. Without it we're left with either one of two options:
a government that must rule with an iron fist in order to keep dissimilar cultures together, or a fracture.

Bush's idea that we're all just hardworking 'citizens of the world' is his Achilles' heel. He's slowly destroying my country.

He's virtually incoherent....one of the screamers. Anything in the message (even if it is from a former vitamin salesman) gets lost in the "style." He's rude, crude, and obnoxious. And, I want you to know that I gave him a good 3 weeks several years ago. It was all I could stand.
