Byrd would say: "Back in muh day we knew how to handle uppity nigresses."
To: kattracks
oh ..imagine that....a liberal democrat shunning her morals for greed....oh geez..big surprise

It will be a cold day in hell before I believe that anything other than a insult was intended by putting this man in charge of anything having to do with the career path of a minority! Any party with the slightest semblance of decency would take into consideration the appearance of this act.

Yeah, and I bet Pelosi had the same this to say about Trent Lott after Srom Thurman's birthday party a few years back. The old Liberal double standard.

Well as long as he is pro-abortion and anti-war he can get away with anything. Byrd could probably show up in full KKK costume to Condi's hearing, and little would be said.

"I don't think that whatever Sen. Byrd is doing has anything to do with his sad past," Pelosi told WWRL... Well, Nancy, do you think it has everything to do with his (and your) pathetic present?

To say this is a tone-deaf move is sheer flattery.
However, sadly, the MSM will never take it up, as they would if the parties were reversed. NEVER.
Maybe the blogs?

Byrd was also a fierce opponent of desegregating the military, complaining in one letter ."I should rather die a thousand times and see old glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again than see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen of the wilds."
And despite that, those idiotic citizens keep sending
him back to the Senate!

Condi can hold her head up high and be proud of who she is and where's she's going. She didn't allow the likes of Robert Byrd get in the way of her future.

Rep. Pelosi insisted that Byrd's extraordinary move had nothing to do with his long history of public racism, but was instead a reflection of his opposition to the Iraq war. Looks like the RATS didn't learn ANYTHING in this last election. Well, the good news is that more of them will get voted out of office in 06.

I cant believe that black democrats continue to support this party in mass.
Do they even follow the news? Do they know what they are voting for?
I would like to hear the opinions of a black freeper concerning the black democrats loyalty to the democrats.

It appears that they, the Dems, have done it again. They are getting better & better each time they shoot themselves in the foot. They do need a reality check, soon.

Rep. Pelosi insisted that Byrd's extraordinary move had nothing to do with his long history of public racism, but was instead a reflection of his opposition to the Iraq war.
"They're confirming a Secretary of State in a time of war. [Byrd's] views on the war and his opposition to it are well known," she said. His racist views are not so well known to the public, but they stretch back further than his opinions on the war in Iraq. Condi's confirmation will be that much sweeter, since the likes of Byrd were unable to stop her.

I enjoy laughing at the inane chatter and condescension of Nancy Pelosi :)
Did anyone else notice that most of her pronouncements sound like small dogs yapping? (Sadly without the benefit of seeing the cute small dogs).
