Not one damn brain cell...

Posted on 01/20/2005 5:12:50 AM PST by domeika

Today is the day to go give the economy a boost. Thinking of buying a new car? How about a washer/dryer? Groceries? Today is the day. Not only does it help our horrible economy (It's bad! Just ask the rats!), it will bitch-slap this looney group out there....

Well, I'm going to take the family out for a big, fattening, politically-incorrect celebration dinner, with plenty of liquid refreshments. Going off the rice-and-beans diet for one meal is the least I can do to boost the local economy a bit.

I have put off shopping for several days and will spend more today just to cancel out any possible economic impact this silliness might have.

I had planned on buying three buttons today. I saw some really cute shoes at Marshall Fields yesterday, but I have nothing to wear with them... Looks like I have some shopping to do.

Taking Mrs. SlowBoat out to dinner and maybe a stop at CompUSA!!!

Just curious: I wonder how many merchants (if any) who support this are closing their doors today?

I hope the people that signed up for that enjoy the cold because if they really aren't buying anything today, they need to shut off their power, not talk on the phone, not boot up their computers, don't take a bath, etc. What a stupid bunch!!

This boycott is worthless since people consume goods at relatively constant rates.

I went to the site, filled out their form on the first page, and then offered some of my additional comments--they were intelligent, rather than whiney, but they still got the point across nevertheless. I also included the fact that I'm living in NYC *and* a PhD. student at NYU, which should certainly surprise them no doubt! (It's all true, too!)

Looks like the drug dealers will have a slow day.

Boycott will have no effect as most of these people do not have jobs. No jobs, no cash. They don's spend money any day.

If you look at the list of their 9 "contact" people, 5 are in Massachusetts, 2 in Maine, 1 in Florida, and there's 1 west coaster in San Francisco. It's possible that Massachusetts merchants may be a little hurt by their native brewed boycott, but that serves them right for all the liberal idiots they pander to.:)

I'm headed out to pre-pay for my new living area flooring and then it's off to Ethan's showroom to pick out and pay for the new furnitiure (new floors make old furniture look tacky!).

This makes absolutely no sense, either politically or economically.

I'm a small business owner. I'm part of the group that employs more than 70% of the people in this country. I am not a big corporation. My little company with two full-time and three part-time employees did not send people to Iraq, although I did support the two employees who went to Iraq by keeping their jobs open, and giving them. I know it's required by law, but I also followed up with the military, making sure I did everything I could to comply.

Why punish me for decisions that took place 1000 miles from my home? While I agree with going into Iraq, I didn't make that decision.

If these folks want to protest, then fine, take it all the way..Here's how

Disconnect the gas, electricity and water in their houses, telephone, internet, cellphones, and cable. Anyone sending emails reminding people of this event is violating the spirit of the event.

No emergency medical treatment for the day. If any of them have heart attacks, break limbs, cut themselves, or get hang nails, they should not regardless of the severity, go to see a doctor.

If they have children attending private schools, keep them home.

If these individuals truly want to protest, them go all the way or shut up about it.

Again, the bottom line here is why punish thousands of people simply to get back at President Bush?

If my dog gets fleas, I don't kill my cat to get rid of them.
