A Day in the Life of President Bush (photos)- 1.18.05

President and Laura Bush attended “Saluting Those Who Serve” today, honoring members of our Armed Forces at an event that helped kick off his second Inauguration, in which, contrary to media reports, he is celebrating the clear mandate he received from the American people on November 2nd. His father and mother, former President George H. W. Bush, and former First Lady, Barbara Bush also attended the event, where President Bush 41 recounted his World War II experiences.

President Bush is working on his Inaugural Address which concentrates on the themes of freedom abroad, and an ownership society at home.

Also today (all day), Condoleezza Rice appeared at her Senate confirmation hearing before the committee that will confirm her as Secretary of State. ENJOY your trip to Sanity Island, and the Daily Dose!!

Listening to that smug voice did it for me . . . UGH. Thank GOD we don't have to listen to him every day for the next four years, and God willing by the time of hte next election he'll be living in France or have been sucked up by aliens or something . . .

She was smoothered all over the tabloids with several men one picture in particular of her sucking the guys toe made even worse that her children were not far away from her and must have seen the incident (one of many).

She cheapened Royalty and was always seen out partying with the Princess of Wales.

***Stuck in my cubicle at work, at the time of the inaugural. :-(***

I have the feeling you're going to have a really bad headache, or maybe a case of explosive vomiting, or perhaps symptoms of rabies, on Thurs., so to protect your fellow cubiclees you're just going to have to stay home from work that day . . . I'm pretty good at predicting these things, you know . . . :-)

I think I understand what schmoozers mean but can you please confirm that I have got nuance right.

It isn't necessarily a negative term. Many politicians enjoy public events, shaking hands, turning on the charm for constituents, and so on. Even many who do not have naturally outgoing personalities learn to appear comfortable mingling with people. A few are more like Dick Cheney. They succeed in politics despite having a naturally reserved personality.

I suspect the VP prefers interacting with a few individuals at a time, or in small dinner parties, that sort of thing.

Bill Clinton and George W. Bush are both naturals at schmoozing. I get the impression Tony Blair is as well. So is Lynne Cheney. In contrast, both the VP and Laura Bush are much more naturally reserved.

I couldn't bear to watch it all, but from what I could tell, the Sec. of State is supposed to; cure and prevent AIDS, detect and prevent terrorism, protect any captured terrorists from getting their widdle feewings hurt in any way, and basically solve and prevent any and all problems throughout the whole world.

It wouldn't be nearly so bad if they were asking genuine questions and truly wanted to know the answers, rather than just asking to get their digs in and be self-serving and critical now and in the future. I mean, you KNOW they're going to fight her on everything, then criticize her continually. AARRGGHHH

You're right, of course. They are at their worst when the TV news cameras are on.

Glad you're doing OK at least. That is so generous of you to donate her supplies! There are some poeple who will really be blessed by your generosity. That is weird about the picture; she is going to surprise you with it! :-)

Senatorial "advise and consent" is not what it used to be. In the TV era, it's increasingly become more like preen and grandstand.
