Video shows eight Chinese taken hostage in Iraq: Al-Jazeera
DUBAI (AFP) - Kidnappers released footage of eight Chinese hostages held in Iraq (news - web sites) and threatened to execute them unless Beijing "clarifies its role" in Iraq within 48 hours.
The Chinese embassy in Baghdad confirmed that eight construction workers from the southern province of Fujian had been abducted last week on the main highway from Iraq to Jordan, China's Xinhua official news agency reported.
In the tape aired by Arabic news channel Al-Jazeera, which showed the hostages being guarded by two hooded gunmen, the kidnappers charged that their captives had "worked with US forces in Iraq".
Embassy diplomats said they were making all efforts to rescue the eight hostages, Xinhua reported.
News of the new hostage-taking came as a Catholic archbishop was released by his abuctors in Iraq's main northern city of Mosul after less than 24 hours in captivity.
I think it's pretty bold of the terrorists to be messing around with China. Hide and watch. If China gets involved Iraq will get cleared up real quick.

This is a huge tactical mistake for them.
One of the ironic side benefits of the Iraq War is that the actions of the insurgents/terrorists there have alienated many of global islamic terrorism's potential allies around the world.
We should be as ruthless as the Chinese can be.
Maybe it is a CIA rouse. If so, brilliant.
They want to see China bow. And China will bow to show their separation from the US on the war.
This could also be a ruse by China to make it appear as though they are also "victims" of the WOT - instead of the terrorist's supreme commander.
They don't arrest terrorists and send them to Cuba, they kill them.
