Americans Are Generous- What Have We Received?
CFP ^ | January 17, 2004 | Kerry Marsala

Tragedy has struck the western portion of the United States causing devastating mudslides and flooding. We've watched in horror as lives have been taken, neighborhoods have submerged into permanent burial grounds and towns have become covered in water. The state of California is already stretched to the maximum in its budget, and now millions of dollars are needed to rebuild once again the areas of destruction. The rest of the United States is strapped as they work to pay their monthly bills, donate to their local charities, and write out large donations to help the relief efforts in south east Asia. So, what can we do and who will help us? I must ask, where’s the outpouring of help? When will the UN and others begin to help with our relief efforts? Aren’t the European countries sending monies and forming relief squadrons to help the victims suffering with their losses out west?

Of course, I’m being facetious. Why, you ask? Because I’ve had enough of our way of life constantly being bashed. It almost seems at any given time when tragedy strikes America that there are certain people who find great pleasure in our pain. I can understand those who live in oppressed countries and do not understand our freedoms being skeptical as they glance at us. I cannot understand though the indoctrination by those in power teaching their masses to hate what they do not understand, and I really haven’t any tolerance for those who reside in our country and enjoy our country’s system of living - seemingly to find delight in our suffering when things go awry. Those who benefit from America and constantly blast our unique way of running a country need to get a grip. . . .

I assume you mean "righteousness", although "riotousness" also holds a warm place in my heart!!!

I agree with th author's sentiment. However, there is one thing the world universally knows about us that is absolutely true: we can take care of ourselves. And their criticism of us when we reach out to the needy in other countries is pure jealousy-they despise not only because we are able, but because we are willing.

Hey, I've come out with a designer line of disaster T-Shirts:

I Survived the Great Tsunami of '04

I Survived the CALIFORNIA Mud Slide of '05

Others see disasters. I see dollars. Thank you, Lord, for giving us these catastrophes.

p.s., please send a good tornado....

I remember that, after Gulf War 1, the Kuwaitis did donate a few million to the victims of a hurricane back then.

First Epistle of St. Peter, Chapter 4: 3  For the time past is sufficient to have fulfilled the will of the Gentiles, for them who have walked in riotousness , lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and unlawful worshipping of idols. 4  Wherein they think it strange, that you run not with them into the same confusion of riotousness , speaking evil of you.

The WTC site in NYC has become a tourist attraction. Tourists from all over the world walk around the fences and snap pictures. It's just a constrcution site right now, of course, but I think people are drawn to morbid things like car wrecks and such. The nearby streets have vendors selling T-shirts and Twin Towers souvenirs, however they are prohibited doing their business within a certain distance of the site. And they would if they could.

Welcome to capitalism.

I'll be honest, when I saw that the death toll went over 150,000 victims, a little smile came to my face,

Anti-muslim remarks, check.

Neocon name, check.

Signed up today, check.

Me thinks you are too obvious.

** sniff sniff **

Besides, your remarks have no place on FR.

Words have meanings, re: the thread title:

You are "generous" if you give something. You are "dealing" if you expect something in return.

Oh nice post, troll. You do understand that the tsunami killed thousands of non-Muslims too? To celebrate the suffering and deaths of thousands is a belittlement of your soul. Please seek help.

What Have We Received?

Thus far, we have received the priceless blessings of liberty and prosperity. We receive these blessings, in part, precisely because we do good to others without regard to repayment, but because its the right thing to do.

However, because it has been prophesied, and because its clear that the citizens of this country, as a group, are largely departing from their Creator, the blessings we have received are eroding.

Why should I donate money to Kofi and his son?If I'm going to make any donation it will be for the American people who are suffering from the mudslide.I don't even like the president spending our tax money when we know the so called aid organizations are stealing it.How much did Bin Laden and his partners make off the money and goods donated for the tsunami incident?

I've been selling a paperweight for the past couple of years that contains models of the WTC with airplanes sticking out of them. The paperweights are filled with liquid, too. When you shake them ash falls on NYFD trucks at the base of the WTC.

Its a very big seller in Dearborn, Michigan....
