CBS News turned over its entire "Face the Nation" broadcast on Sunday to inveterate Bush-basher Ted Kennedy, after refusing a White House request that they also include a Republican to rebut Kennedy's bloviations.
"The White House was happy to put Dan Bartlett or somebody else on that program and CBS said, 'Thank you, No,'" reported Brit Hume on "Fox News Sunday." The CBS snub comes just a week after the network promised Bartlett, who recently moved from Communications Director to the White House counsel's job, that they'd stop skewing their coverage against the president.
According to Broadcasting & Cable, CBS News President Andrew Heyward traveled to D.C. and personally assured Bartlett that "neither CBS News nor [Dan] Rather had a vendetta against the White House."
"From here on out [CBS] would do everything it could to be fair and balanced, he reportedly pledged.

· They are pacifists and believe that accommodation with an enemy is always better than a fight.
· They are secularists and do not believe in any transcendent standard of good and evil.
· As socialists, internationalists, pacifists, and secularists, these liberal intellectuals are the natural allies of the communistsuseful idiots.
>>My sympathies. I've had a similar experience and decided, after years of frustration, to let it go. My friend and I now rarely communicate and my frustration level is much reduced.
Well, I told my friend we should stick to non-political stuff because we're not going to change each other's minds. We have common interests like radio and baseball and got into a political email battle recently after I told him of a Vermont radio station switching from
Limbaugh, Carr, etc. to Air Frankenfraud.
Tom Brokaw wrote his paean to the "Greatest Generation" because that's his and Rather's and CBSes remaining audience. Why would CBS want to confuse and alienate the audience of the "Most Pablum-Fed Generation" that they've worked tirelessly for generations to develop?
I never thought about that: Brokaw essentially sucking up to his remaining audience niche. Interesting insight.
Yes. And Balz will ask the pubbie: "Is this administration STILL torturing 'insurgents' despite the Democrats objections to these abuses of civil liberties?"
Yeah right and a Leopard can change its spots and a sow will not return to its wallowing in the mire and a dog won't turn and eat its own vonit!
I guess it all depends on the meaning of "From here on out"!
Last night CBS had a story on Social Security and had "economist Paul Krugman" comment on Bush's plan. Technically correct, but not nearly descriptive enough of his background. I don't think CBS even cares.
