Check out this video of an LST taking a couple of JDAMs from a B-52. The damage is extensive. Download time is short - even on a dial-up like mine.

This test was part of the development of JDAMs for moving targets.

Need to click on link again after page loads for some reason but it works albeit a slow download. Worth the wait though.
What a waste of a ship.

Link worked fine for me, but slow.

I can't believe she was still afloat at the end of the movie. I'm sure she took on enough water to send her to Davie Jones locker Though.

A very effective weapon for moving camels.

Bingo! Largest felines in the world, and the only cats I will tolerate. They are really quite beautiful creatures.

If you have IE:

- Right click on the highlighted word "Video"
- Select "Save Target As..."
- If you don't have WindowsMediaViewer loaded, it may not play, but you can change the extension before you make the copy to .mpg if you want.

It will load in a folder on your computer so you can view it as often as you want as long as you have

Originally designed during WWII, tank landing ships supported the launch and recovery of troops and equipment directly onto the beachhead in support of an amphibious invasion via a bow ramp and embarked causeways.

One thousand fifty-one World War II era LSTs were built in American shipyards during the war, marking the most mass-produced platform in naval history.

LSTs served a major role in the success of the two most famous amphibious landings, the Invasion of Normandy and the Inchon Landing during the Korean War.

The US Navy has decommissioned the LST's. They're still in use by other navies around the world.
