Understood.. but i dont think we realize how many innocent iraqi's from ages 10 to 30 are being held mainly under suspicion. It makes me wonder, how many families have been torn apart, their houses being raided in hunt for insurgents when we simply have a common man being taken into captivity for no reason.
guys do we have any official # on how many ppl are currently detained in abu-grahib? That would be interesting because suffice to say, the insurgents seem to be doing one hell of a job creating un-neccesary chaos compared to the ones jailed.

Thanks to at least a couple of you who know what you speak of before you speak.
I cannot believe the ignorant statements on here, like they're gonna send the guy to a civilian prison full of Muslims, like there is NO DOUBT he was ordered to do this by someone higher up, like why did BUSH allow this outcome, HE should have seen to it the guy got a dishonorable discharge at most, like these prisoners were being softened up for interrogation as if they were insurgent/terror suspects, like this case was no big deal because the military should have compared it with the true horrors done by terrorists and sadistic dictators, and on and on and on and on and on.
I can't take this. All of these presumptions are so wrong that I can't believe we haven't been invaded by Martians who never followed one word of this story.

I guess I feel differently because I was in a war zone when all this was going on. It got ALL the media attention and was a huge embarassment to all of us who were working hard 24/7 and doing the right thing. The good news gets little coverage as it is. He violated the army values - Big Time.
I'm grateful to be living in a country where we have freedom to have and express our own opinions.
You people who think this is justice is the reason why we will never win the war against terror and the islamofacists.....you people are a bunch of enablers...it's a shame that your mentality will ensure that my grandkids and great grandkids will be fighting this war.....

Even though I have posted my "thumbs up" for the sentence, it is by no means because my heart bleeds for the Iraqi insurgents, terrorists, outlaws, whatever the men and women were in there for.
I don't care about their feelings, I care about our military. I don't even care about our "reputation around the world" like the dems do, it is the health and welfare of our soldiers.
The troops do not deserve a handful of stupid jerks to cause their lives to be more in danger, and their morale to suffer BECAUSE OF ALL LIBS that are wringing their hands and using this as another excuse to call the Iraq war an immoral and illegal war----which would put every one of the dead and injured troops in the catagory of "dying for a big nothing"--like Kerry said about Vietnam veterans!!!

Graner was a prison guard in civilian life. I think in Maryland or Pennsylvania (somewhere thereabouts).
If it weren't for the 24 hour news coverage...anything to make the Iraq war bad...it wouldn't be such a big deal....same old story...sigh...

I don't think criminality is "fine", but I do think the punishment should fit the "crime".
