No, his sentence was justified. Think of how much this has hurt the US around the world.

They sure were not captured wearing uniforms.
Still, this guy hurt our cause for no good reason. It is not as if he was trying to get important information out of the people he abused.

Do you have any information about what happened to the muslim US Army soldier that threw the grenades into his fellow soldiers tent at the beginning of the war? I never heard any follow up prosecution or sentencing.
To: nopardons
I know that he didn't cut off people's arms. I know he didn't put them through a wood chipper or rape their children in front of them. He didn't steal billions while thousands died of starvation and disease. He didn't use those stolen billions to finance world terrorism.
What he did was a prank, and it was stupid, but it wasn't that bad.

The ACLU demanded his release. He was merely expressing his religion. (Actually, I don't know what happened.)

also, in a realistic way, how many of those prisoners are insurgents with bad intentions, and how many are simply innocent men held under suspicion? Apparantly all of them were simply under suspicion in the one wing where the bad stuff took place, for those that were determined to be "insurgents with bad intentions" were all sent to Guantanamo for further interrogation. The other wings of the prison held common criminals.

Why is Bush allowing this?
This soldier should be given a dishonorable discharge and the case closed. Let's move on to something important.

They were for the most part common criminals who were sent to Abu Ghraib for rape, theft, or other ordinary crimes or were rounded up in the vicinity of car bombings. Most were released afterward. Criminals don't have to wear uniforms to get access to civil rights.

"I guess it would be better to just line a bunch of them up, shoot the first prisoner, ask the next one a question, if no answer is given, shoot that one, and proceed down the line till you get an answer...Seem ridiculously reasonable to me...Saves money and time... "
That is fine by me. Just don't take any pictures and everyone involved keep their mouths shut.

It is a pc lynching. And NO DOUBT he was taking orders from someone higher up. WHO is that higher up person?
If he goes there, he won't last long. Radical Muslims in prison will kill him. It will be hell on earth. Amongst prisoners, radical Islam is the fastest growing religion. He's as good as dead - and a white guy to boot - VERY BAD NEWS.

All this naked-ness, leash bags over their heads and having women in their presense is an absolute physically painless method of getting the results the "intelligence" community needed at the time... Thank you.
I didn't see anyone bleeding. I never saw anyone sustain an injury.
If a prisoner has intel that if given up can save American lives
then I am in favor of bleeding or injury for them.
If they are just being badgered because of their nationality I think that is dishonorable.
Bottom line is that it matters WHY a prisoner is being treated a certain way.
If Massoud knows where an IED strike will occur I'd happily sanction his being flayed.
If Joe U.S. Recruit decides to have some fun to amuse himself though, he oughta be hanged.
We don't know the context of the treatment. Probably never will.
All I'm saying is that the context dictates the judgement.
