'Simple Life' Denies Deer-Poaching Claim

DENNIS TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) - Paris Hilton's reality show "The Simple Life" is disputing allegations that a deer was illegally killed so that it could be gutted by the socialite and her sidekick, Nicole Richie.

State officials said the deer was killed Tuesday night and they believe it was to be gutted for the show. Investigators are looking into accounts the deer was shot by someone firing a gun from inside a car.

Two men working for the Fox show could face fines of between $100 and $500 for permit violations and hunting out of season, said Elaine Makatura, spokeswoman for the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection.

Todd Beck, a spokesman for Bunim-Murray Productions, which produces "The Simple Life," said no one connected to the show was involved in shooting the deer.

The reality show, which features Hilton and Richie working in a series of menial jobs, was earlier prohibited from filming a segment at a nearby school after parents complained that Hilton's lifestyle was not a good role model for children.

Actually, only about 34 out of 340 families protested. Pretty pathetic, if you ask me...ten percent doesn't seem too bad given the typical inertia on such matters in a lot of communities today - what seemed pathetic to me was the school official who when interviewed by the press actually seemed to be in favor of the girls coming to the school, sort of secretive about what was going on, and kind of disappointed that it wasn't going to happen - hope he's looking for a new job soon if that impression was accurate.......

But it's strictly a misdemeanor affair - violation of hunting permit laws

I don't know what New Jersey's laws are, but that will land you in prison here in Colorado.

Let me see, what to charge them with? Hunting out of season. Hunting without a license. Hunting without a hunter safety card. Conspiracy to violate game and fish laws. Illegal taking of big game. Firing a weapon from a motor vehicle. Loaded weapon in a vehicle. Animal cruelty. Possession of illegally taken big game. Failure to properly tag harvested big game. Hunting after legal shooting hours. Spotlighting big game.

There are lots of people serving lengthy prison sentences around the country for a lot less, a good game warden could come up with multiple charges against these clowns. On the other hand, this is in New Jersey.

I feel really bad for their parents. I've only watched the show a couple of times. My sister likes the show. I don't know why?

I think Paris was better suited to be a porn actress than a reality TV actress.

I've seen Paris in segments of both -- she has no talent in either!

A parent/guest on local talker Dom Giordano's radio show let it slip that she thought the schools were "dilapidated", and this would bring attention to the school's condition. This was the main motivation of the pro-slut side of the argument, in my opinion. Show how crappy the schools were, and axe (public school lingo, there) for more money--as if they didn't spend enough on schools already.

"I have a feeling that none of these Hollyweird types even know that there are laws governing deer hunting."

Dont you know? This entire country is their playground.

I repeat, this country is their playground. Who are we peasants to be displeased by the actions of those set above us by God? A couple of Marie Antoinettes. Anyone got a blade?
