Suggestion to all of us Freepers re the potential for ban on prayer at the inaugeration

Now Michael Newdow is offended by prayer at the presidential inauguration.... his legal argument is not far-fetched. What ought to grab the attention of those who would prefer to allow religion in the public square is that earlier court decisions provide the grounds for Mr. Newdow to make a plausible legal case.

So if they are going to remove a simple prayer from the inaugeration ceremonies then let's turn Inaugeration Day into an unofficial, but highly effective, DAY OF PRAYER for our President and all office holders. Let's quickly do the following: (a) Send messages to the White House and to Fox etc to have President Bush attend a Church Service in the morning of Inaugeration Day and have the service televised, and (b.) Urge our ministers, priests and rabbis around the country to hold a service in the early morning or in the evening when maximum numbers can attend. The best way to 'fight back' with these kinds of attacks is to quietly but effectively make it a bigger event in a way that they can't touch. How about it?

If the ruling comes back in favor of Neudow...your idea sounds great. Let's not jump the gun till then, however I love your idea, and I'm on board if the case come back on the side of the athiest slimeball.

Please read the article - apparently, based on recent court decisions they have made it plausable based on the code of civil law -- sad.

The color pink offends me, women with big mouths offend me (hillary, palosi, et al), bologna sandwiches offend me, liberals offend me, cats offend me, my GOD, how much time and $$$ would I waste suing everyone/thing that offended me, WHY WHY WHY does the minority WIN? I work in a building that had an angel on top of the Christmas tree, one person, ONE PERSON, was offended and yes the angel came down and was replaced by Santa Claus. I don't get it! When some idiot is offended we need to stand up and say TOUGH $HIT pal, if you don't like it, don't look, plain and simple,,,,,what happened to Americans with SPINES? When did we become such wimps???????? America lost her spine when we let LIBERALS influence the weak. Thank you for listening!

The courts will rule against Newdow because it is in their interest to do so.

The last thing the courts want is to overstep their authority enough to cause the people to rise up against judicial rule.

Perhaps a few years from now, secularism will have made enough gains to make such a decision seem plausible, but not yet.

O'Connor and her liberal leftist SCOTUS buddies based their opinion on the touchy feely subjective which makes their earlier decision as wrong as wrong can be. Which gives the impetus to somehow limit these Supremes from any further wrongdoing.

My reaction would have been to put an angel on my desk, wear an angel pin or to REALLY offend them, I would have worn a cross necklace. I made it a point to say Merry Christmas in the weeks leading up to Christmas last year.

I personally went to each and every employee and said Merry Christmas even the one who "doesn't celebrate holidays, including birthdays, etc." This person refused a small Christmas offering, a candy cane and a piece of chocolate, couldn't believe it, she also refused a Dunkin Donuts gift card but amazingly enough she accepted the gift card the company gave us! Go figure! AND she actually COMPLAINED that the company gift card was NOT ENOUGH!

"Florida College Bans The Passion of the Christ; Launches Campaign Against Free Speech"

January 14, 2005

FIRE Press Release

PRESS RELEASE SNIPPET: "FORT PIERCE, Fla., January 14, 2005—Florida’s Indian River Community College (IRCC) is engaging in a campaign of repression against a Christian student group for attempting to show Mel Gibson’s The Passion of the Christ on campus.  In November 2004, the college banned the Christian Student Fellowship (CSF) from showing the film because it was R-rated, despite the fact that the college has hosted a live performance entitled “F**king for Jesus” that describes simulated sex with “the risen Christ.”  CSF students report that after their group wrote President Edwin R. Massey in protest, administrators pulled group leaders out of class and, astoundingly, demanded an apology from them for their actions.  Now, CSF is unable even to officially meet because its advisor resigned after IRCC imposed a burdensome new policy requiring that faculty advisors attend all student group meetings."
