My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.
You are the Author of our faith, our Creator, our Lord God Almighty. You comfort us; You chastise us; You teach us; You sustain us; You save us. Hallowed be Your Name!
Lord, President Bush and his administration have been under siege for the last four years and there are no signs of the baseless but relentless attacks abating in the coming term of office. Let them continue to praise You, knowing that You have lessons for them to learn from these trials. Continue Your work of perfecting them through the adversity that they face; help them to remain steadfast and true to Your will regardless of what others say about them. Bless President Bush with Your wisdom and place Your understanding within his heart that he may be a faithful servant to You. Our country faces many challenges in the coming years - the War on Terror; the need for many reforms within our own laws and government structure; the bitterness fed by enemies of the administration; the need to return to a time of greater morality and reverence for life. You know the solutions to these great and sweeping concerns; let our leaders seek Your counsel as they strive to better our country.
Lord, we continue in prayer for those brave men and women wearing the uniform of our nation and our allies as they fight to bring freedom to people who have been long-oppressed and brutalized. As the violence increases with the approach of the Iraqi election, we ask You to be a Shield for our troops. Give them the strength and courage to carry out their duties. We remember also those who are deployed in Afghanistan and other places around the world. Make Your presence known to them that they may never feel alone even though they are far from loved ones and in desolate locations.
Lord, comfort those who have lost loved ones as well as their homes and possessions from storms and floods and other natural disasters. Even amidst their devastating losses, give them an awareness that they still have the most precious gift of all, life itself. Let those who know You turn to You for consolation, drawing ever closer to You and strengthening their faith; and awaken the non-believers to the peace and joy that come from a relationship with You that can transcend all earthly troubles. In the Name of Jesus. Amen.
I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. - Psalms 34:4
Agreeing with your beautiful prayer, kayak!
Amen.
Heavenly Father, thank You for all the blessings received. Dear Lord, we pray for President Bush and his family. We pray for our country and the brave military men and women who are fighting to keep this wonderful country free. We ask these blessings in Your Son's Precious Name. Amen.
Thank you for joining us in prayer.
It's a blessing to have you praying with us.
What a wonderful tagline! May the Lord bless you, too!
"It's a blessing to have you praying with us."
Many times I pause to read this continuing thread but do not comment. Today's topic touched me in a personal way since my patience has been sorely tested over the past two years and my main thoughts have been to trust in the Lord. Through surrender, I gain strength.
Today's scripture verses spoke strongly to me also. Patience is not one of my strongest virtues and I need to be reminded constantly that God is in control regardless of what is going on around us, particularly in the political realm.
"May the Sacred Heart of Jesus be adored, glorified, loved and preserved throughout the world now and forever Amen."
Amen to your prayer, Kayak. Thank you.
We pray together, Father, for a restoration to those members of Your body who have lost "things" in these natural disasters. You promise to restore that which the chancre worm has stolen. We thank You for showing forth Your great power and love to Your beloved as a witness to Your goodness and glory. Thank You, our Lord. Amen
