The Gospel is in itself offensive to some.

It all depends upon how it is presented. If I scream in someone's face, and wave the bible about in a condescending manner; I'm pretty sure it's going to be offensive.

If I approach that same person with respect, humility and as an equal; the response is likely to be very different.

How was Christianity portrayed in this example? Thier message was good; their method of delivery was not.

Jesus and the disciples also went many places to share the news of salvation. There were some times when the people came to him but if you want to catch fish you gotta go where the fish are.

They sang songs and held signs with scriture in them. Gays are intimidated by the gospel, but the point is they were not confrontational, and could easily have been ignored. They had a perfect right to "peaceful protest" that in itself is not a crime.

No, this group happened to be Christians. If this group had been mild mannered Nazi's, who acted with the same level of respect, manners and behavior; the end result would have been the same.

If a Christians can descend upon a Gay Outting, and are allowed to disrupt the group; then the Gay groups will have the same right to descend upon any Christian Outting and do exactly the same thing.

That's funny! Ever been to Filthadelphia? They are not tolerant of anyone. They are gay friendly. Period.

It is true. Spector is obsessed with the game. Trust me on this. I know from personal experience.

His is incredibly anal retentive about the game, and mercy help anyone on his staff who has not secured a squash court in advance for him (or loses his racket.)

Which is another reason I wish they had just stayed outside the event. They are giving the courts a further chance to restrict their own activities. And with today's activist and Liberal courts, I am afraid it is going to set a very restrictive precedent for future protests.

Actually, protests by their very nature are confrontational. I don't think we can afford to add an 'offense' or 'intent' clause to amendment I. In fact, I heard a gay rights attorney on a news show saying that his group were big proponents of the first amendment, and didn't want to see the Christian groups denied their rights. Of course, I'm not advocating making terroristic threats or inciting a riot either.

Also, members of the gay community have made their voices heard at Christian functions. This usually doesn't happen at "outings", but it does happen from time to time at regional and national policy conventions. They usually just want to have their say and are rarely disruptive. I have no problem with that. I can only speak of(not for) the United Methodist church, but they have an "all are welcome" policy.

No, the Christians had a portable bull horn, and used it to sing. I had no problem hearing what was beind sung by one man... in a crowd ... with background noise... from a fairly good distance.

Again, if this had been a group of mild mannered Nazi's; doing exactly the same thing (peacefully spreading their message), behaving in the same manner, the chances are very good that they would be given a choice of depart, or be arrested. The only difference is the subject matter at hand.

I don't think the police had much choice in the matter. The Gay's had paid for their assembly, merchants had set up stands to sell to the Gay crowd; and the Christians decided to descend upon the group. The Christians were not welcome, and were disruptive to the planned event.

Remove the term 'Christian' and insert another term (Insurance agents, Fireman's Ball staffers, Secretaries for the United Way), and they decided to disrupt an event; chances are they would also be given a choice between leaving, or being arrested.

They already have and do. But NOTHING happens to them. They are never arrested for it.

Hodar,

Please watch the videotape of this event and arrest and then explain to me and this forum what the Christians did that was illegal. Just click on "OutFest arrest."

The following photo is my own alteration of a Philly campaign ad. Feel free to use it where appropriate. All I did was change "Sleep" to Freep." Suggestions for additional changes welcome. I'm looking for a pair of pajamas like this to wear to a Philly Freep.

I did, and I agree that the Christians were well behaved, polite and rational. No question there.

However, there is a time and a place for Christianity; and walking with a bull horn through a gay event neither glorifies Christ, mimicks his behavior, presents a positive image to other christians, nor exhibits anything remotely religious. This was an 'In your face' assault on the gay lifestyle that was not remotely in line with the lessons Christ taught.

From the logical point of view, if a small group is given police protection to disrupt a planned meeting of a large group here, then it must be allowed everywhere. I personally do not want the police to force my church group to permit a Gay parade during our Easter Sunrise service. I don't want to struggle to hear my pastor (priest, Bishop, insert your religious authority figure here) because some Gay man with a megaphone is blasting blasphemous chants in my ears.

Katie ha snever appologized for her repeated accusations of Dr.Dobson and the FRC whom she said were guilty of the
murder of Matthew Shephard in Wyo. Not even after the killers said it was Meth and the realy dumb idea Matt had of
trading drugs for unnatural sex did Katie Appologize .
So unless she got e-mail from the Pink Avengers she would
most likely ignore them.

I can't speak for Philly, as I was not there. However, I have seen people warned in Austin and Seattle to either disperse or be arrested. During the WTO, many peaceful protesters were arrested for doing exactly the same thing. Not everyone got tear-gassed, not every protester broke windows, but more than a few protesters got arrested for staying when they were told to disperse. There was little sympathy then, because those protesters were flaming liberals.

However, those arrests set the standard. If you arrest a person for disobeying the police and not leaving a public area, you face the possibility of arrest.

What Law did the Christians violate? Two guys from SanFran
vidiotaped it all and nearly got arrested by the Philly cops-- The reprobates did not want a closed Gay Pride Event-but wanted it open --the reprobates did not apply for any injunction to prohibit anyone from the event. So the
"reason" the Christians got arrested is Philly has been
Queered and has rejected its' founders Christian principles.
