The spokesperson said the DA's office did 'not' see this as a 'free speech issue'.

It's gone beyond a free speech issue. It's become an issue of governmental abuse of constitutional rights. Such crimes committed by government officials should be ranked among the most heinous of crimes. This DA should be prosecuted and imprisoned for this illegal abuse of power. At this point, there is no other acceptable remedy.

Alliance defence fund is representing them. I believe American Family Assoc may be involved as well. I know updates are available on agapepress.com. I hope they are allowed to sue. I hear tell they are suing for "discrimination due to reace gender sexual orientation, or RELIGION!" They are themselves covered by hate crimes laws, and those who arrested them arranged ahead of time HOW to arrest them.

WND has a lot of information as well, on this case.

Do you know anything about this case? Just think "Ethnic Intimidation" is one of the charges. Can you tell me what ethnicity homosexuals are? Just search for the video, and if you are reasonable, which I assume you are since you belong to FR, you will see what a load of bull any of these charges are. Not to mention them even being arrested. This is religious persecution in America!

Don't know if I'd have said it as harshly, but I agree. We have the right in this country to peaceably assemble and protest. I know of no laws that were broken, except by the DA and the police.(they should be prosecuted, too. Especially the DA)

By the way, what's up with the repeated SOS in your tagline? Just curious.

Maybe we should start emailing Katie & Matt with some choice questions/comments, ......

I take it you don't watch GMA. Charlie Gibson and Diane Sawyer host GMA. Katie and Matt host The Today Show.

Hate crimes legislation is being used to prosecute this case and that is what homosexuals have been pushing for for a long time and they're succeeding in Philly at this point in time.

Hopefuly they will have pushed it too far this tiem, as the Christians themselves are due the sanme protections under the same hate crimes legislation. And the defense isn't hesitating to use it.

Wow! It sounds like the guy's true colors are showing. Maybe Smerconish is a Log Cabin Republican?

I agree that he definitely can't be helping their situation. The story has to get coverage IMO if these Christians are going to get any help.

I just thought a few minutes ago about contacting the local Christian radio stations and asking them to run the story, that ought to help some.
This station rocks and has affiliates nationwide http://www.air1.com/
I'm going to start with them.
There are a couple other local stations that I can call tomorrow.

Thanks for the ping..I'll be watching.

From the WND link: "possession of instruments of crime", now would that be the signs with the biblical messages on them, or the bible itself?

It's amazing how we can twist and morph things to fit any law we've decided someone else broke, and then charge them for it.

Gosh but a**holes are getting so creative!

I would suggest you watch your language.

I'm sure your gutteral verbage and logical discussion techniques are all the rage at DU; but at FR we tend to use language better suited for adults.

I can't for the life of me understand why Christians are so quiet. I guess they're in denial and hope for the best. I am not one of those. I'm going to speak out.

A lot more will if this continues, but typically, as you know, Christians are live and let live, God is judge, not them, he will handle the situation, love the sinner, hate the sin, all that.

It takes a lot to get Christians fired up in any sort of civil action way. Much like the Amish, who never voted, until they were pushed to it this last time. We are a loving people as God has told us to be, until Jesus comes under attack, then we must act.

Did the Christian group have a permit to protest? That's one detail I don't recall ever reading about. Thanks.

Lynne Abraham has also unfairly gone after pro-lifers. She is a Liberal Democrat who has a terrible bias against conservatives and has abused the power of her office to go after them.

I'm glad you posted that. I've wondered about it and you've nailed it. She's a lib.

there is a petition I believe, let me see if I have it in email, its to go to the Justice Department to look into the arrest itself and how it was handled.

UPDATE: Homosexual Attorneys from Justice Department Advise Philadelphia Police On Arresting Christians
One Internet news service says not to expect an investigation because of the involvement of the Justice Department homosexual attorneys

Dear

A few days ago I wrote you about the situation in Philadelphia in which four Christians were arrested. They are charged with eight crimes, including three felonies: possession of instruments of crime (a bullhorn), ethnic intimidation (saying that homosexuality is a sin), and inciting a riot (reading from the Bible some passages relating to homosexuality) despite the fact that no riot occurred.

They face a possible 47 years in prison and fines of $90,000 each. Now we have learned more about this horrible travesty of justice.

According to WorldNetDaily, "Homosexual attorneys from the U.S. Justice Department Civil Rights Division not only attended (the) large homosexual event…but they advised police on the scene who arrested 11 Christian protesters, says a source in the agency." (Charges against some of the Christians have been dropped.)

The WorldNetDaily article went on to say the U.S. Justice Department is "not likely to take up the cause of the five criminally charged Christians who believe Philadelphia officials violated their civil rights."

Did you catch that? The Justice Department will refuse to investigate the treatment of the arrested Christians because some homosexual attorneys from the Justice Department were advising the Philadelphia police on how to arrest the Christians!!!!

WorldNetDaily, quoting their source inside the Justice Department, said the Christians were charged with "ethic intimidation (hate crimes) 'at the recommendation of some of our (Department of Justice) attorneys who were at the march.'"

In fact, Chief Inspector Tiano, who serves as liaison to the homosexual community, testified at the preliminary hearing that he met at least four times with the organizers of the Outfest event in anticipation of the protesters' activities, presumably to discuss how to handle the "Christians" when they showed up at the event. He also said he had 40 officers on site that day. He did not meet with any of the Christians!

There appears to be collusion in this travesty of justice that goes to high levels of both the Justice Department and Philadelphia. A trail date will be set soon.

Would you stand with these Christians who are defending our constitutional right of free speech? We are asking you to stand with these four Christians by doing the following actions.

Send the email to the Department of Justice asking for an investigation of this situation. Click here to send your email.

Help us with a financial gift. AFA attorneys from our Center for Law and Policy are representing the Philadelphia 4 at no cost to the Christians. A gift of $15, less than a cup of coffee once a month for a year, will go a long way in helping AFA cover our costs. Click here to make a donation.

One final request. Please forward this to your friends and family. And thanks for caring enough to get involved.
Sincerely,

Don

Donald E. Wildmon, Founder and Chairman
American Family Association

P.S. Please forward this email to family and friends.

You're very welcome! There's another thread posted today, I found a little while ago.

Motion filed for Philadelphia protesters

Also something that isn't being brought up much on the threads is that the judge has banned them from evangelizing within 100ft of any homosexual event. Now if that doesn't tell what's really going on here, I don't know what does!
