See link for foot notes. This may be too long for a single reading, but it is the best analysis of the political struggle and the war on terror that I've seen.

This is a great analysis. I linked to it on the Counterterrorism Blog and was hoping someone would post it. It may be a long read, but imho it is also a MUST.

Thank you for posting this... much food for thought & many lessons to be assimilated.
Countering the popular detractors (e.g. ANSWER) of the policy is bread & butter, especially for energetic activists frequently mobilized by no few on this forum. Co-opting the more subtle adversaries is a far trickier proposition.
One thing is certain & is increasingly evident, W is masterful at allowing himself to be underestimated & then doing the impossible.

NORMAN PODHORETZ is the editor-at-large of COMMENTARY and the author of ten books. Make that eleven books. (Probably not the only error in this neocon screed, unfortunately.)

I don't believe I've ever seen the anti-Anerican propaganda campaign that followed Tet 68 described so well in so few words as in this piece.

BS - he did nothing of the kind.

Within this long read is a logical question. Just what, according to this writer, is the BUSH DOCTRINE??

Thanks SO MUCH for posting the article in full!
I had tried to post the full article to
this thread yesterday, but every time I did the words "Temporary Unavailable" kept popping up....eventually I DID post it in full (
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/1319275/posts?page=33#33), but it is good to see that others (the infamous "Quidnunc" poster comes to mind here) aren't queasy about posting unnecessarily excerpted material.
Hip, hip, HOORAY!!!!
