There is an up side to this story. These billionaires who are geopolitical morons wasted $63 million trying to elect John Kerry. If they want to waste more of their money trying to "create progressive institutions," that's fine. Since they have a tin ear for facts and truth in politics, this effort will be just as big a failure as the last one.

There is no faster way to go broke than to have a rising share in a declining market. Soros' share of the liberal ideology is rising.

"commit an even larger sum over a longer period to build institutions that foster progressive ideas and people."

The entire educational system isn't enough?

Well, let them spend themselves dry, suits me just fine...and with the help of God we will still defeat them.

If Soros and these other buttheads are putting their money into the left they expect to get something out of it. When Soros interferes in a governments finances he always comes out richer. You can bet they plan on making more money than they invest. They are international Pirates and thieves.

Ever wonder why these people who made billions under capitalism want to advance socialism? If they're really committed to sharing the wealth, and not merely their own egos (I greatly suspect they're committed to the latter), why don't they simply give up some of their billions?

Soros is backing UN gun confiscation program. Soros wants to do a bypass of the US Constitution by international treaty.

This will fail for the same reason big government programs fail: it is being forced from the top down.

Conservatives groups have ideas and search out money to fund getting these ideas out. It is the ideas that drives the process not the money. Soros has the money and is searching for the ideas.

Many good private programs provide goods and services to communities (housing the homeless, feeding the poor, etc). They succeed because they have people with a passion to serve. They provide good services and seek out money for support. If they do a poor job, they cannot get the money.

Government gives out the money to solve these same problems. But those who participate are involved for the money, not because they have a passion to service.

George just doesn't understand that ideas beat money every time when a free country faces a crisis. The War on Terrorism is a great example of this fact. They outspent Republicans, but the electorate wanted concrete answers to questions on terrorism and American Foreign Policy. In the end the electorate rejected their ideas on the question of terrorism and foreign policy. They also lost on the domestic issues we face as a nation, so please George and friends continue to fund your causes.

Soros aspires to be Joseph Goebbels. So long as he lacks the power to have his opponents shot, he'll fail.

Soros nearly destroyed England. Why is an English magazine speaking so favorably of someone that has done many, many times more harm to their nation than Bush ever did or ever will?

"The intention is to provide the left with organizations in Washington that match the heft of right wing think tanks such as the Heritage Foundation and American Enterprise Institute."

I don't remember which old Greek said this, "Know thyself", but Soros and gang should try some old-fashioned self-reflection.

The Left notoriously owns almost every University in America. The government and millions of American families already give these institutions billions upon billions of dollars a year. What influence has the Academy had on politics in America? At best, it's driven millions of folks to the Republicans at the antics of the Professortariat. Is this what the Left needs, think tanks? You have to have ideas first.

Hey, we're going to have some real fun with the "progressive" United Nations Socialists soon :) A new contest is coming out that will show how a hundred and fifty bucks can neutralize Soros millions. And how we can completely undermine the left. The millions will be required just to SLOW the collapse, not to prevent it.

Under the aegis of a Foundation, Soros, Lewis and Bing (and their co-conspirators) could get away with huge financial travesties. Within that structure all kinds of financial misdeeds can be hidden. Corporate monies illegally could be laundered, used to fund campaigns to evade the FEC, and transfer corporate assets to personal accounts to evade the SEC, and state and federal banking laws.

For example, it would be interesting to know what kind of financial activities, Soros, Lewis and Bing, and officers of publicly-traded corporations will be engaged in and whether company donations to Soros, Lewis and Bing, will be properly accounted for on company financial statements, whether shareholders will be duly notified of corporate donations, whether the donations might be illegally made from corporate funds in the names of private individuals, and whether Soros, Lewis and Bing, and their co-conspirators, properly account for these donations when filing official statements.

If Soros, Lewis and Bing, and their co-conspirators, rig federal and state funding statements in collusion with officers of publicly-held companies who filed false financial instruments, that would be considered aiding and abetting the commission of federal and state crimes.

Employing fraudulent accounting practices in order to cover-up corporate wrongdoing would jeopardize the financial interests of stockholders, corporate associates and partners, which would compel the SEC to step in.

If these characters resort to cooking the books or use accounting procedures in order to fool shareholders.... .......like misusing corporate reserve accounts, concealing losses, inflating asset values, improperly accounting for transactions, deferring losses into reserve accounts, improperly shifting capital
funding.....stuff like that…..the SEC would be compelled to step in.

Shareholders should contact the SEC here enforcement@SEC.gov

Furthermore, as part of the Tax Exempt Compensation Enforcement Project, the IRS intends to examine non-profit organizations (NPO), to learn more about the practices nonprofits follow as they fill out Form 990, the main public disclosure documents for charities and foundations, and whether accounting fraud and tax evasion is taking place, and whether the compensation of specific individuals is excessive and, and whether instances of questionable compensation practices may evade IRS, banking and SEC laws.

The IRS will examine NPO insider transactions, such as (1) loans, the (2) sale, (3) exchange or (4) leasing of property to non-profit officers and others. In particular, the IRS will look to see how organizations report (5) "excess benefit transactions" on Form 990, and (6) executive pay.

The IRS could determine whether Soros, Lewis and Bing, and their co-conspirators----through the Foundation----are properly accounting for all of its activities including tax-funded activities, whether they are inflating legal costs, and whether Soros, Lewis and Bing, and their co-conspirators are using foundation dollars for the purposes stated.

Form 990, the main public disclosure documents for NPO's, including charities and foundations, could determine whether accounting fraud and tax evasion is taking place, and whether the compensation of specific individuals is excessive in order to transfer assets, and, and whether instances of questionable compensation practices may evade the IRS, and US banking laws.

We need to know whether Soros, Lewis and Bing, and their co-conspirators might be engaged in Enron-style accounting and spending practices using tax dollars for personal expenses, for example, and whether Soros, Lewis and Bing, and their co-conspirators might cook the books.

According to August 2004 news reports the IRS is in the process now and will continue examining NPO's. The IRS began the new enforcement project at the end of July and will continue through 2005. The IRS has received complaints that 501C's are being used to run just about every kind of off-the-books accounting fraud.

The IRS should be alert to determining whether Soros, Lewis and Bing, and their co-conspirators, are properly accounting for all foundation expenditures, whether it is fraudulently inflating legal costs, and whether it is using foundaiton dollars for the purposes stated. We need to know whether Soros, Lewis and Bing, and their co-conspirators are engaged in Enron-style accounting and spending practices.
