Normally, I'd tweak ya for even CALLING USAF BMT rough, try 14 weeks at Parris Island in AUGUST but what the heck, I'm in a good mood. Congrats.
Been there! Done That! '73..........
C'mon Marines...we all know we went to the REAL Boot Camp, although you Perris Island grads still look down on us Hollywood Marines :). But then again you are just jealous we were issued surfboards. You at least have to give this Airman credit for serving. Too many kids these days won't even consider the military, much less look up to someone serving.
Congrats Airman, I started out in the Marines in SIGINT but couldn't copy morse very well...ended up in Tank Battalion (a lot more fun!) Nose to the grindstone and I will give you the same advice I gave my two brothers when they went in. You are going to get crap until you re-up the first time. Lifers see a new batch of Jr. enlisted every year and until you can prove that you aren't just there for the College money...they will not respect you. You have to consider that they spend all their time training and mentoring troops just to see them roll out 4 years later. Can get quite frustrating. Of course if you are not planning on making it a carreer...do your best, enjoy your time in, and save as much money as you can. If you are not married...WAIT UNTIL YOU GET OUT! (no one ever listens to this advice) Unless it is a longtime relationship you had since before you enlisted...STAY SINGLE!
14 weeks in August...? I'd be tempted to say "Yep, you're definitely a Marine," but I have too much genuine respect for the Corps to do that.

Oh, BULLSH*T!! You jarheads think it's easy for us to carry around those pencils and clipboards all day. Them fuc*ers get HEAVY after awhile! Then there's the chow. Same crap day after day. Steak and eggs for breakfast, beef bourguignonne and sauteed fresh vegetables for lunch and the same choices for dinner all the time. We were forced to pick from Oysters Rockefeller, chateau briand, pork loin roast (with new potato's or some crappy fish dish like lobster or scallops. You try that crap for a few years and then tell me how easy we had it.
