Kid Rock "Never Booked" at Bush Inaugural Concert
imdb.com news ^ | 1/13/05 | Unknown

Posted on 01/13/2005 6:02:13 AM PST by Iowegian

Organizers of President George W. Bush's inauguration are confused by reports Kid Rock has been ousted from the list of performers - because he was "never booked" in the first place. Kid Rock, real name Robert Ritchie, was recently the target of outrage from several conservative groups when it was reported the star might be included in the president's festivities. The Campaign For Children And Families sent out emails to 2.5 million supporters decrying the appearance. But organizers insist the rocker was never set to join Jojo and Hilary Duff as a performer at the January 18 youth concert, which will be hosted by Bush's twin daughters Barbara and Jenna. Tracey Schmitt, spokeswoman for the Presidential Inauguration Committee, says, "He was never booked... I don't know where this came from." Bush, who was supported by Rock during his heated election race against Senator John Kerry, will be inaugurated on January 20.

Why all the hostility?? Just use common sense. This story has been flying around all week. Do you not think that if it were true that Kid Rock would be performing at the ball and seeing all this controversy spring up around this performance they wouldn't have issued a statement asap??

I have a hard time believing that there wouldn't have been something along the lines of, "Kid Rock is deeply saddened by the controversy surrounding his performance that the (Whatever) Ball. He has been a strong supporter of the war on terror, the USO, and President Bush's reelection...blah blah blah..." issued the second this group started criticizing his (non)appearance at this ball.

I can understand if WND made an honest mistake, but if this was some contrived "scandal" then they should have contrived it with someone else.

YOu can bet it was; if you Google Kid Rock right now, ALL ROADS lead back to World Net Daily. Theirs is the ONLY quote saying he was performing.

Well, it is true; and you have to ask yourself WHY those groups felt the need to do this; other than dividing Republicans, of course.

As always, follow the money. Now these groups will get to claim to their followers that they were instrumental in "holding the President's feet to the fire" (to quote an old friend of ours)... that only through their intervention was decency upheld.

Their followers will see that that God has blessed them by providing these watchdogs to advance His holy interests. They will provide more funding.

As for WND, they've become as bad as that other "news" website that seems to specialize in reporting out of context what someone said on TV.

This whole thing has been a non-story from the start.

Exactly! He or his reps never denied it at all, did they, until after it was official they wouldn't play.

Then it was the "oh, we were never going to play in the first place" line.

If they weren't playing and didn't want to play they would have denied it on day one.

They didn't. I am sure it is true that he was never going to play. He just wanted to to restart a moribund "career".

I hope you didn't send money to anybody because of this.

Huh? Send money to whom? What are you talking about?

Then why are you even arguing about this?? Because of the timing of a press release???

He just wanted to to restart a moribund "career".

And why exactly do you think he needs to "restart" his career? He's not exactly fallen off the face of the earth.

Newsmax. You got it. I love the headlines that imply an exclusive report, but then you read the article and it says, "Tim Russert, speaking with Matt Lauer on the Today Show, said that..."

I try to avoid reading any article posted on FR from them, but the headlines are intriguing and it's only when I'm into the article that I realize the source.

I'm shocked at how you've turned your back on one of your most ardent admirers. I'm going to start holding your feet to the fire until you begin treating lunatics with a little more respect.

That's not the act of a TRUE conservative. LOL!

Are you calling the President's spokesperson a liar? She said Kid Rock was never booked.
