Do you not think that if it were true that Kid Rock would be performing at the ball and seeing all this controversy spring up around this performance they wouldn't have issued a statement asap??

Exactly! He or his reps never denied it at all, did they, until after it was official they wouldn't play.

Then it was the "oh, we were never going to play in the first place" line.

If they weren't playing and didn't want to play they would have denied it on day one.

They didn't. I am sure it is true that he was never going to play. He just wanted to to restart a moribund "career".

And why exactly do you think he needs to "restart" his career? He's not exactly fallen off the face of the earth.
