Organizers of President George W. Bush's inauguration are confused by reports Kid Rock has been ousted from the list of performers - because he was "never booked" in the first place. Kid Rock, real name Robert Ritchie, was recently the target of outrage from several conservative groups when it was reported the star might be included in the president's festivities. The Campaign For Children And Families sent out emails to 2.5 million supporters decrying the appearance. But organizers insist the rocker was never set to join Jojo and Hilary Duff as a performer at the January 18 youth concert, which will be hosted by Bush's twin daughters Barbara and Jenna. Tracey Schmitt, spokeswoman for the Presidential Inauguration Committee, says, "He was never booked... I don't know where this came from." Bush, who was supported by Rock during his heated election race against Senator John Kerry, will be inaugurated on January 20.
I have no idea what Joseph Farah has to do with this.
A lot of what? You mean like basketballs? Tennis balls?
Are you suggesting Bush bribed him with sports equipment to support him?
I think your accusations against the President are quite out of order.
I just emailed WND and insisted on an apology. Say what you will about Kid Rock, but inside his chest beats the heart of a true patriot. I can understand if WND made an honest mistake, but if this was some contrived "scandal" then they should have contrived it with someone else.
Rock went to Iraq and Kuwait, publically supported Bush and generally did more for the troops than many others in the ivory towers ever did.
Yeah whatever. Next time I'll try to draw a picture.
"January 18 youth concert, which will be hosted by Bush's twin daughters Barbara and Jenna."
I suppose this depends on one's age as to how one views the entertainment.
The Moqtada al-Sadr and the Mahdi Army of Christianity strike again.
Well, well, well........
And where are the Holier Than Thou types to apologize to the rest of us?
Or the condescending attitudes toward the rest of us; remember that.
This was a made up story from World Net Daily.
Well, it is true; and you have to ask yourself WHY those groups felt the need to do this; other than dividing Republicans, of course.
I don't forget nasty smears, that's for sure. I'm slow to forgive, too. Terrible of me, I know. :)
Kid Rock nor his publicist never said one word about this; this ALL came from World Net Daily.
It was a garbage story.
I don't believe that. I'm sure they planted it. That's how it works.
That's because you haven't been reading the articles about this; or should I say "stories." They were made up of wholecloth by World Net Daily.
"Yep. Looks like Dandy Donnie Wild-Man and his acolytes trumped up a controversy to get their names in the papers."
Donald Wildmon continues his fight for relevance - and fundraising. How anyone can take that quack seriously is beyond me.
If Kid Rocks publicist had planted the story just to get his name out there then I think we would have heard from them at some point. Neither of them have said anything.
"Well, it is true; and you have to ask yourself WHY those groups felt the need to do this; other than dividing Republicans, of course."
I think that WND got the story from Wildmon and the AFA and the other group involved in the letter-writing campaign (the CWA?). They didn't check the story out properly, and issued news releases that the WND gobbled up willingly.
As to why, I believe these groups are now attempting to assert control over the GOP. And they're doing it whether what they say is the truth or not. Apparently, now, there was no truth to the booking of Kid Rock in the first place. So, these groups manufactured a letter-duping campaign and fired up their members to write these letters, based on an untruth.
The extreme Christian right seems to believe that they, alone, are responsible for GWB being re-elected. That's ridiculous, of course. Every group that voted for Bush is partly responsible for his re-election, and that even includes Kid Rock fans.
Perhaps this will tone down these groups. I doubt it, though.
Did they deny it? Hello!!
It wasn't til after it was established clearly that he would not be "performing" that they publicist said anyting, and it was the face saving "it was never planned".
You've been had.
I hope you didn't send money to anybody because of this.
It is a lie.
Oh, move to the head of the class!!!
And this won't stop them; this lie didn't work; so they'll just come up with a BIGGER lie.
