I don't see the problem. A recent poll in England found that somewhere around 65% had no idea what Auschiwitz (sp?) was.

Quite right. The swastika arm band is on the wrong person. It really belongs on Chuck Schumer. Also Henry Waxman, Barbara Boxer and Diane Feinstein. There's more than a little irony in that.

A collateral ancestor, Lord Mountbatten, changed his name from Battenberg because of anti-German feeling during the First World War.
The British kicked out the Stuarts and brought in a Dutchman, William III, in 1688. Then when that line died out they brought in George I, a German prince of the House of Hannover.
I don't know how much all these ancestral connections influenced the prince's behavior. But all this reminds me of the great book and even greater movie, "The Remains of the Day."

Back when I was in college, a Jewish friend of mine and I made up some politically incorrect costumes for Halloween. I dressed up as a Nazi with full length leather trench, combat boots, and brown shirt, and red armband. He dressed up as a poor ghetto Jew with some shabby clothing, yellow star, little fisherman's cap and battered suitcase. We had a grand old time chasing each other around the dormatory.
There'd be no point to this anecdote except that the next day in the cafeteria, I received a standing ovation from the table where all the middle-eastern students sat. Somehow I think they missed the point.
