Democrat Christine Gregoire will be sworn in as Washington's Governor today, possibly thanks to voters such as Mary Coffey, James Courneya and Rosalie Simpson. Why do we mention them in particular? Because, as the Seattle Post-Intelligencer recently reported, they're all dead...
Revelations of the formerly living casting ballots in elections isn't new to American politics, although it's something most of us thought was a relic of the late Richard Daley's Chicago. But this isn't the only jaw-dropper to have come out of Washington's gubernatorial race, which Ms. Gregoire claims to have won -- on a third recount, by 129 votes -- over Republican Dino Rossi. Now Mr. Rossi is contesting the result in state court...
Mr. Rossi certainly has a mountain of evidence on his side. In December, officials in King County...discovered 573 "erroneously rejected" absentee ballots, plus another 150 uncounted ones that showed up in a South Seattle warehouse. There were reports that hundreds of voters were registered in storage rental facilities and private mailboxes, that felons had voted, and that military ballots were sent out too late to be counted. Then we learned that several hundred provisional ballots had simply been fed into voting machines, making it impossible to authenticate their legality. Now it turns out the number of votes cast in King County exceeds the total number of voters by about 1,800.
County election officials insist these are all honest goofs, and that the vote tally was "99.9% accurate." ... But when the outcome of an election hinges on a considerably smaller fraction than 0.1%, the Ivory soap standard isn't good enough. ...53% of Washingtonians believe Mr. Rossi won... 36% ...think Ms. Gregoire won... Washingtonians also want a revote by a similar margin.
We sympathize with Mr. Rossi.... But ...no court is likely to reverse the result...

The moral values of the Left. (They're baffled by the 2004 Presidential Election.)
One thing about the Washington State Democrats, They pulled out all the stops.
They didnt stop at finding lost ballots, they didnt stop at disenfranchising the military, they didnt stop at feeding bad ballots into the machine. No sir. They didnt pull any punches. They read the book and they added some new chapters.
If there was ever an outright theft of an election more open than this I havent witnessed it. Somebody belongs in jail on this one.
These demorats are dead serious.
Looks like they stole it. I doubt that it will be fixed.
Yes this was a stolen election. We need to keep this in the national front as well. The demoRats that control the state will want this swept under the rug as quickly as possible.
The FBI ought to be pouring over the evidence trying to find a few of them to throw in jail. Why not fingerprint the ballots that mysteriously appeared to save the day for Gregoire after she'd already lost two recounts?
Every time a lib states that Bush wasn't legitimately elected, I ask them, based on their logic, if they agree it's ok for him to run again in 2008 and 2012. That usually shuts them up.
How about we start with the DemonRat candidate?

Outrageous!
The governorship is a lost cause for Rossi at this point, but the GOP needs to put its money where its mouth is. Proof of election fraud should be presented to a GJ, and those who perpetrated it should be charged with a crime. Otherwise, all this will look like sour grapes.
OMG is that quote for real???
Got a link??
Well, who can know that? Since the 'win' was only by 129 votes and in only one instance, 1,800 ballots are in question, me thinks the Pubbie has a strong case to challenge the election.
Gregoire will be the governor. Short of another election, I don't know how the people would rescind the executive power from her once it has been vested. Let's look to the future. Maria Cantwell's seat in the Senate. Dino Rossi should take her on. Like Jim Talent and the shenanigans in Missouri of 2000, he could win a Senate seat in two years.
Prosecutions, anyone?
Somebody belongs in jail on this one.
Of course you're right and the citizens of Washington will be denied their democratically elected Governor for four years, but this is the key stat coming out of this election: 53% of Washingtonians believe Mr. Rossi won... 36% ...think Ms. Gregoire won.
This won't be forgotten, not for a long time. This is the kind of thing that turns a light blue state light red, and then RED. The D's are so desperate now, they'll steal an election out in the open and damn the consequences. Tomorrow, there will be hell to pay at the polls for this. Was it really worth it?
(Also, I'm not anywhere near an expert on the man, but a lot of WA FReepers have suggested that Rossi is a RINO so he might not be a bad one to take one for the team)
