KIRO is misrepresenting the size of the pro-REVOTE crowd at the rally today down in Olympia. On their website they said 1000 revote supporters, and 500 Gregoire supporters. Baloney! I was there, and I have proof on film (my buddy panned the crowd for this very purpose - the liberal media does this all the time!). I left a message on KIRO's tips line that I had proof on film that they were not telling the real story, and offered it to them. Let's see if I get a reply! (I won't hold my breath)
how many were there in your estimate?
These people have an agenda, and it's not our agenda.
My guess is two to three thousand. We easily outnumbered the Gregoire supporters 5 to 1.
And I'm being really conservative, here. It could be WAY more than that.
I was at one of the biggest marches for life in DC some years ago. Sponsors said half a million. I'd say at least 300,000. The press and the DC police said 50,000, and ran a picture of a small group of abortion supporters. Someone took an aerial photo, and it showed a huge crowd, maybe the biggest in DC history, but somehow that never made the news.
This is standard practice. If the Seattle police give out numbers, I'm sure they know which side their bread is buttered on.
The age old question: "Does size really matter?"
I would question why the Seattle police estimated the crowd of an event in Olympia. You're right, though, if the Seattle police did this, it would be *very* strange.
Always!
Yes, hold their feet to the fire.
get that video on the net. please
Crowd estimates are almost always purpose-driven, even if there's no politics involved. Back in the 1950's, they used to say that 500,000 people showed up for the hydroplane races on Lake Washington in Seattle, even though the city only had a population of 490,000 and there's no way you could squeeze even 200,000 along that shore.
I just checked KIRO's website. They claim only 200 Gregoire supporters.
Media Schadenfreude and Media Shenanigans PING
We have it all on video tape.
My favorite was when Compaq tried to justify their expensive sponsorship of Formula One Racing by claiming that it had an audience of 50 billion. Yes Billion with a B.
The world's population is barely 6 billion now.
Even if there were a race a week with 20% of the Earth watching every time, that number was BS.
We had at least 200 in Clark County.
Only if you have to ask.
KOMO TV just revised the numbers. They had been reporting 1,000 for Rossi and 500 for Gregoire, but that has changed. Now it is 2,000 with KOMO TV saying Gregoire had just 200 supporters. So that leaves us with 1,500.
KIRO (CBS) has a long, long history of lying about crowd sizes. They always lie in favor of communists, socialists, anarchists, greens, hippies, dopers, losers, homeless, homosexuals, gun-banners, vegans, anti-smokers, "pro-choicers," democrats, etc.
The lie factor you cite is tame for KIRO. I witnessed years with consistent lie factors of 10x. Applying that to your numbers, they would report 250 for you and 500 for the anti's.
Speaking of KIRO's (CBS) decades of lies to support the communists, does the name Mary Mapes mean anything to you?
