Condit: I have a guy that's on Court TV, who writes books, who has legitimacy, credibility, telling people on TV that Gary Condit had Middle Eastern people organized to do away with this woman. How absurd, how lame. But it hurt. And it hurt me badly. It shut me down.

Attorney's next question: Did it shut you down enough to stop your hair highlighting appointments?

Those two were reported to be part of a sex party ring with Condit. This was back pre-9/11 and I've since gotten rid of my bookmarks on Condit, but it's widely believed why those two didn't run for re-election.

Ahh the Summer of Chandra, last gasp of the carefree Gay Nineties, just before our decade-long vacation from history ended with a bang. I'm tellin' ya, if we had only elected John Kerry he would have made everything warm and fuzzy again and brought back the good old times. Oh well.

On a less profound note l'affaire Condit marked the end of Dominick Dunne's career as a serious crime reporter. I had admired his earlier writings and I followed some of his articles in Vanity Fair over this incident--to my shock and horror--he became the star of his own show. The bizarre theories he floated about Chandra's disappearance (sex slave in a saudi sheik's seraglio) took second place to his glamorous globetrotting and name-dropping. I lost all respect for him. He turned himself into just another literary court jester to the rich and infamous.

Perhaps the most disturbing aspect to the story was Chandra herself. Nothing new about a philadering pol. But Chandra seemed to be so much more grounded than the pathetic Monica and yet she too, fell for a powerful lowlife and refused to be dissuaded by her family.

Exactly! Lin Wood should set off red flags to everybody!

I said it before and I'll say it again: Condit made a HUGE mistake in bringing this lawsuit against Dominick Dunne; Dunne will NOT rest until he proves his case.

Dunne LOVES trials. It's what he does for a living. No chance. Remember, his daughter was a sweet young darkhaired girl like Chandra and was murdered. He started the opening of the Skakel case. Nope, Dunne is patient and Dunne wants justice.

Attorney: Did she ever discuss having a relationship that was more than friends at some future date?

Condit: No.

Lin Wood (Condit’s attorney): I'm going to object, excuse me….

Condit: I'm sorry….

Mr. Wood: … to the extent that it seeks to go into areas of sexual conduct.

I too was rather surprised at some of Dunne's reporting on this matter. However, Condit is going to regret taking Dunne to court.

And Chandra Levy and Lori Klausutis are still dead and no one has been held accountable ...

I think Condit needs his Denny Crane, too!

Ahh ... Seems just like the pre-9/11 old days! :-)

Condit made a HUGE mistake in bringing this lawsuit against Dominick Dunne

We can chalk it up as the second biggest mistake Condit's ever made.

Well, according to Chandra (through the aunt), he didn't like to go out much. Wasn't she practically LIVING at his place when his wife was not in town (which was nearly always, though she was there when Chandra was killed).

Man, straight from the Clinton School of "Denah [deny], denah, denah."

Wow, I had not heard that. I always wondered why they didn't run.

I found this:

After finally admitting to having a sexual affair with the 24-year-old intern, Condit continues to deny any knowledge of, or involvement in, her mysterious vanishing. ABC announced yesterday that Connie Chung has been awarded an interview with the now-infamous Condit, who is believed to be making a push to convince his constituency that he was not involved in any wrongdoing, outside of the extra-marital affair with Levy.

Now, how can he now claim no affair?

ATTORNEY: "Would you describe Chandra Levy as Chesty?"?

CONDIT: "I....a...Not chesty per say , but she did have great Funbags or aaa sweater puppies...uhm at least thats what I heard from others."

Condit should immediately withdraw his suit – for it is likely to hurt him far more than help him. Even assuming that Condit had nothing at all to do with Levy's murder, his case is still a weak one. And discovery in the case could still prove very embarrassing for him, as well as hurtful to his wife and children. Moreover, even if Condit pursues his case to the bitter end, the damages he receives could be scant, at best.
