An Open Letter From The ACLU To The ACLU
Dear ACLU Member,
It is with the utmost regret, but with extreme faith in our noble purpose, that we at the American Civil Liberties Union have found no choice but to take legal action against the American Civil Liberties Union.
The ACLU was conceived to defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties guaranteed to every person in this country by the Constitution and laws of the United States. And we must now say, "People, wake up!" The ACLU is standing in the way of the ACLU‚s ability to do the ACLU's work . We can no longer let us go unchecked and have no choice but to begin litigation. If we don't take legal action against ourselves now, we will no longer be able to forthrightly police malfeasance of authority, which of course, includes police malfeasance. Since 1920, the ACLU has courageously defended everyone else‚s rights against abuses of human rights laws. But who will protect us from ourselves?
The ACLU was formed to protect and guarantee your rights provided by the Constitution but we fought to keep the Boy Scouts of public areas because, in a way, I guess, they‚re not really people. And we kept God out of public areas, because, by definition, this deity is definitely not a people.
