Mel Gibson post-award press conference-"Kinship" with Michael Moore

Posted on 01/10/2005 10:33:48 AM PST by bushfamfan

Does anyone have the quotes that Mel Gibson apparently made after receiving his People's Choice Award in saying he felt a "kinship" with Michael Moore and attacking the war in Iraq?

I haven't heard him bad mouth Bush? what's has got you up in arms about him? He is a devout Christian who donates millions to charity he is a devoted husband and father and does not hesistate to tell Hollyweird he stands up for GOD.

He might dis-agree with the war in Iraq, so might Jesus Christ and I am sure you wouldn't question him.

he doesn't know why we are in Iraq

It's simple...

1. Saddam invaded Kuwait, and bombs Israel in the process.
2. We went to war to liberate Kuwait. Saddam signs a cease-fire agreement.
3. Saddam repeatedly violated said agreement.
4. Saddam was trying to obtain WMD, and there was considerable evidence that he was about to implement them.
5. Based on Saddam's past history, he did not deserve the benefit of the doubt, regarding WMDs.
6. There was a link that Saddam was financing terrorists, even if the links between Saddam and AQ were dubious, this is the "War on Terror," and not the "War on Al-Qaeda" or "Payback for 9/11."
7. So great, we remove Saddam, do we just pack our bags and go home? Of course, not. It took us eight years after the end of WWII before we stopped occupying our section of Germany (and we still occupied a part of Berlin for over 40 years).

That's why we are in Iraq, Mel.

Well I saw his speech and nothing that he said raised a flag with me. And by the way, no one dislikes the liberal Moore more than I do.

Until I read or see the full text, I won't assume anything. I suggest the rest of us do the same.

"Answer for what?" Good heavens, man, have you lost track of your own thread?

You asked, "Does anyone have the quotes that Mel Gibson apparently made after receiving his People's Choice Award in saying he felt a 'kinship' with Michael Moore and attacking the war in Iraq?"

What I saw was a lot of gas, no substance, no link, no sourced quotation.

Dan

That's why I said verify his comments. No one has found a verifiable source yet. I've done a Yahoo! search, and haven't found anything yet. If true, I would think the press would be reporting this.

he praises that propaganda film.

He praised it now? I thought it was a just a kinship that he felt with Moore. My this is growing by the minute.

I think there will be some clarifications of his (Gibson's) "words" in the days to come...

As I said before, he is an anti-war conservative, pretty much always has been. He has a GREAT respect for the soldiers. He was and still is Anti-Vietnam War. Folks shouldn't be so surprised.

There are now numerous posters who have heard his comments on radio programs. I myself haven't heard them but if he praised Fahrenheit 9/11, that is something conservatives should be aware of to stop this Mel worship by some.

Consider that it is said his father actually moved the family to Australia to avoid his sons being drafted and sent to Vietnam. Mel denies it. Why doesn't he just admit it?

Because he has millions of Catholics and various flavors of ex military conservatives eating out of his hands. That's a hugh market.

Who cares? I didn't care much for F911 or the Passion of the Christ. Good Lord, some people have virtually canonized Gibson for his movie - it is just a movie.

Where are the numerous ones? I have only seen TWO people on this thread post that they heard Mel on the radio. Is there another thread somewhere where these numerous ones are hanging out?

When did Mel say Bush lied?? Well, consider the fact he liked Fahrenheit 9/11!! Can you figure it out? I guess he's figured out the reasons for the war, hasn't he?

Ah, yes, the anti-Catholic card. I'm surprised it took you so long to play it.

You have lost your mind. You need help. You are blatantly lying about a man. Isn't that slander?

If Gibson questions the war, that's his right. If he feels a kinship with fatso and loves F911, I have no use for him.

Once AGAIN, do you have a sourced quote for that? It really seems like you just want to take it just like this, as if it confirmed some suspicion you've already have.

Tread carefully FRiend, lest you end up with egg on your face.
