I sometimes get the impression that you're not a Mel Gibson fan.

Answer for what? Do you find Mel so admirable in the fact that he is voicing praise for Michael Moore and his film Fahrenheit 9/11? Answer that one. That's my problem with Mel. That is why I started this thread because people have acted like he is this great conservative.

I heard the comments on the radio this morning. It was played on Houston's KPRC radio during the Pat Gray show.

It was Gibson expressing his kinship with Michael Moore and then saying he doesn't know why we are in Iraq and that he wishes someone would sit down and explain it to him.

Gray's comment was something to the effect that does Mel Gibson expect President Bush to sit down with him and explain his reasons for going to Iraq? And what person who is a conservative doesn't already understand those reasons two years later?

Well, he fought hard for a Christian film and I'm happy about that.

However, his political opionions suck and so does he. I'm boycotting him.

I didn't say praising. I said BASHING and, I never mentioned you or anyone, specifically. This is the problem with people. They don't read for comprehension.

I think there is something more to this than just bashing Mel Gibson. Anyone who doesn't pass the ideological "purity test" (in other words, they must agree with the war in Iraq or they're not conservative) is a target to them. This is an old dispute in the conservative movement, remanifested with the current conflict.

Guess he hates Bush if he likes Fahrenheit 9/11. Do you understand what he thinks about Bush and his motives now?

I know many good conservative people that wonder why we are in Iraq or at least why we are still there. It doesn't mean that they aren't good conservative people because they question the government. Actually, it is evident that they are a FREE people.

Yeah, but how would President Bush be able to explain it to Mel when Mel and his buddy Michael Moore say Bush lied to send us to war for oil, so he wouldn't have to take on OBL, for revenge for his father, just because he is evil and wants to send our young men and women to die on a lie.

You sure use words like "apparently", "if" and "guess". IOW, you are forming an opinion without knowing the facts and just assuming about something that you heard that someone said. Until you hear Gibson's comments in their proper context, you really need to chill.

Yeah I agree, I am sure if we never went to war with Iraq the same people on FR would be saying there was no need to go to war with Iraq. Conservatives can dis-agree with our government without being a flaming liberal or be painted as not being patriotic.

Gibson has not dis-respected our President he has questions on the war in Iraq? Good...

Don't know if he's a nut but he is certainly inarticulate. His acceptance speech was bumbling and fumbling.

Mel and his buddy Michael Moore say Bush lied

Now you are putting words into the man's mouth. This is hysterical. When did Mel say this?

he has questions on the war in Iraq?

Should the people not ask questions? Or should they all just follow the President blindly because he is a republican?

If you read my previous posts, one included the fact I could understand someone being anti-war with a rational thought, but he is clearly questioning Bush's motives(as in they are evil) when he praises that propaganda film.

I'm not going to use specific terms, but there are definitely some conservatives who are the most concerned with their Machiavellian plans for the world than forwarding the entire agenda that is needed to preserve Western civilization. Let me just say that.
