The leaders of the old media are easily bribed. Their followers are easily led. Or so it is said.

Note

For four days beginning on July 26, 2004, a group of Vietnam veterans, scholars, and experts—including recipients of the Congressional Medal of Honor, several former Special Forces officers and enlisted men, and veterans who have taught about the war at the high school, college, and graduate school levels —gathered at a small college in Boston to examine the “Myths of the Vietnam War.”*

Their hope was to take advantage of the renewed interest in the war resulting from the expected nomination of Senator John F. Kerry as the Democratic Party candidate for President of the United States to promote a national dialogue about Vietnam, its myths, and legitimate lessons. After the conference formally adjourned, several of the participants expressed a strong sense of betrayal over the conduct of John Kerry after his return to the United States following brief service in Vietnam and voiced outrage over his nomination. Soon others joined the conversation, and a consensus was reached to set forth some of the reasons for this widespread outrage.

The statement that follows is the result of that effort. It is a consensus effort, and not every veteran who was in the room necessarily agrees with every point made. We do agree that the election of John Forbes Kerry as President of the United States would be yet another betrayal of those who served honorably in Vietnam and remain proud of that service, which public opinion polls tell us includes more than 90 percent of all Vietnam veterans.

For the purpose of preparing and releasing this document we have informally organized ourselves as the “Vietnam Veterans to Correct the Myths” (VVCM), an unincorporated voluntary association. No funds have been raised or expended in the name of VVCM, which does not endorse any specific candidate for public office All views expressed are those of the individuals involved.

We release this Manifesto on the Internet to be considered on its own merits. Others may distribute it, endorse it, ignore it, or attempt to refute it at their pleasure. Should Mr. Kerry wish to debate our facts or conclusions, we will be most happy to accommodate him.

What was the battle about? It was a battle to recapture the honor of the Vietnam veterans who served gallantly and heroically in that war.

With all due respect to the Lt., you can't recapture the honor you've never lost.

That last battle was to insure a dis-honorable Viet vet did not serve in the White house.

Not the last battle. A crucial one to be sure, but not the last. That one will be when Vietnam throws off its shackles and breathes free air once again, and it will be unanimously derided by the same media whose members betrayed it in the 70's. I hope Cronkite lives to see it because I'd dearly love to rub his nose in it.

"...I attended a conference in Boston this July on "The Myths of the Vietnam War" which examined the shallowness and the one-sidedness of the news coverage of that war. On the same Thursday night that Kerry made his grand entrance at the Democratic Convention, I joined 200 anti-Kerry Vietnam veterans, former American and South Vietnamese POWs, and surviving Vietnamese Boat People, in a march of protest to the front of the Convention Hall.

Not one major news outlet cared to interview us, and there were thousands of media people there. We marched to Kerry's condo on the Hill, and had a ceremonial reenactment of his throwing his medals back. POW Mike Benge and another South Vietnamese POW who had spent 20 years in a prison camp in North Vietnam marched at my sides. John Kerry's actions had betrayed everyone involved in our protest. We chanted, "Good men died while John Kerry lied!"...

But ABC, AP, CBS, CNN, FOX, MSNBC, NBC, NY Times
made sure you knew about the Bush phony National Guard documents!

" It was a battle to recapture the honor of the Vietnam veterans "

They never lost their honor among the American people, just the Old Media and extreme left whackos. There just wasn't any countervailing media giving favorable publicity to returning veterans.

But all across the country they were being elected to city councils, statehouses and school boards. Employers were wanting the maturity and self discipline of veterans.

They were heroes to their friends and families if not to Hollywood.

Okay, now that the American people have slammed the door on the Viet Nam War, it's time to slam the door on the '60's Hippy-Tantrum.

<< The Last Battle of the Vietnam War >>

Do not bet on it.

Like every major Vietnam battle fought by Americans and our allies in that conflict, this latest was rewarded with a decisive victory, it is true -- but Kerry has once again escaped prosecution for his treasons and with his freedom and his life -- and is off and running toward 2008.

And thus will have to soon once again be traced and faced and erased from contention.

And as for you. Lieutenant Rich Webster?

May God for ever bless you and all of those you love.

Every Real American, I am sure, joins me in saluting you!
