I know I have heard dead people's voices on tapes.

Right now I'm hearing Waylon Jennings. Singing with Willie.

And I hear voices thru that filling in my molar...

(Reminds me of 35 years ago, when everyone sat around listening for "Paul is dead" on the Beatles' White Album.)

Psychologists quickly recognized EVP as just another example of the brain's penchant for making sense even of the patently senseless.

If you torture the data enough, it will confess...

You want creepy, have you seen that commercial with the kangaroo and the floor cleaner?

Well the Australian guy in it has been dead for about a year. Suicide. And they keep playing the commercial.

Has anyone looked into these scientists' credentials?

Yes, I think his name was George Noory. (/sarcasm off)Whenever I hear an alleged EVP recording, it sounds like a bunch of static, with maybe a little feedback thrown in.

So, they're saying that when I try to find a station on my radio or in my car or at work and I get the in-between static that I'm hearing dead people? Some of those dead people can still play musical instruments! Amazing! Creepy, but amazing!

Just how powerful the effect could be with sounds was made clear more than 60 years ago by BF Skinner, the Harvard psychologist who found that nonsensical sequences of syllables led people to hear "words" bearing no relation at all to the original sounds.

Hey, isn't "Skinner" the head honcho at DU? Amazing - the DU "Skinner" seems to find that nonsensical sequences of syllables are proof of vote fraud in Ohio! Coincidence? I don't think so!

I know I have heard dead people's voices on tapes.

I once tuned into Air America, and in between the static and hiss between stations I thought I could hear voices too. And the researcher is right, they aren't funny!

I like Waylon singing much better on his own.

These dead people's voices thing reminds me of those psychics who promise that they can help you talk to dead relative.

I asked one of they could promise that I wouldn't have to talk to some of my live relatives, but they couldn't do that. I guess it's a lot harder.

I wish I could quickly find the quote in the Bible about not communicating with the dead. Not good to mess around with.

This may be the real deal, it was on the Maury Povich show.

Ghost to Ghost is where I heard it, as well as on some TV shows in October every year. Some of it is garbage, some is "bleed over" I'm sure. I don't listen to Coast to Coast near as much since Art Bell went into semi-retirement.
